Went to see my first granturismo!

Now that I've received a half decent offer for my car, I thought I should see one up close.

I went to a nearby garage and looked at one. At £30k it was overpriced. (White 2011 mc shift 44k) so I never intended to buy it.

Turning up, the garage looked a bit dodgy and scanning the yard there was no GT, just a tired E46 M3 and one of those modern Mustangs things(no offence) I asked and was told the sports cars are kept indoors. (Ooh.. I thought)

Anyway, found the car tucked away with other exotica, (most stuff under wraps). TBH, the car looked rather sorry for itself in the corner in the shade. The man agreed to move it out, well, at least try, but he couldn't. Admittedly, there was a slight hump but the car wouldn't budge.(handbrake seized?) Eventually he gave up and said I'd have to come back.

Looked inside as there was little else I could do. It was cosy, being used to saloons. The rear seat was quite spacious in terms of legroom, though headroom was a bit limited, and the seat snug.

Noticed the carbon fibre bits were looking quite tired(glazing over?). The doors were enormous and didn't shut very well, unlike a German car.

I wasn't impressed. Oh, and it was an auto, when it was described as a MC shift.

Hopefully the next will be better.

Not that unusual I'm afraid. I don't know why some of these traders take on a Maserati as they don't know anything about them - misdescriptions are very common (there's a thread about it somewhere) although I think half the time the DVLA has them registered incorrectly.

Hi Brendan. Try Richard Grace of same name cars fame, Nareman Virk at Nuvola and also check with Matt / @conaero on here in case he knows of someone selling one.

I'm in Watford(M25/M1) so good location.

I agree, dealers resort to software packages that list the cars features/options and can't be bothered to check them

That's why Messrs Virk and Grace are the right people to talk to; they know what they're talking about.

Point noted. Unfortunately Richard doesn't seem to sell cars in my budget, but once I’ve upped it to be able to get the right car, he said he will get me the best one out there……

Can’t go wrong with Richard, good luck with your search.

Best of luck with the search. Important to get a good one in order to avoid big bills, hence the shout out for Richard and Nareman @ Nuvola.

I saw you were after a Granturismo S MC Shift for max £25k if I recall. I’m afraid you won’t find a good one at a reputable dealer for that, you may just be lucky enough with a lot of research and phone calls and travel, to find a private one at that but it will likely require some spend. I have a couple due in next week at £29950 and £30950 respectively but I don’t sell GT’s less than that really. This is because I’ll only sell 2009/59 onwards post variator cars and with a good clutch, brakes, etc. It must also have a very good history and pass an inspection etc. I’m more than happy to help you out if you need guidance on any others though.

Nice offer Dicky; that kind of service is getting rare these days.

I bought my car off Richard grace money well spent in terms of peace of mind as he came so highly recommended.

if buying elsewhere with these types of cars you have to pay and arrange a pre purchase inspection.

Thanks for that. I've been making some enquiries about the one Nuvola has at £26k, was after a light interior, but I guess this isn't as important as a well sorted one.

Mine was from Nareman and to this day I'm delighted at the quality of sales and aftercare from him. It also had a black interior which I liked very much. The Alcantara maybe lightened it a bit somehow, but I like dark interiors anyway so less of an issue for me. Anyway, good luck!
