Anyone got any tips on not giving a **** about the acquisition of wealth?

Yes.
Stop caring about how you stack up in life compared to others.
Stop caring what others think of your life.
Get off insta/fb and any willy waving socials.
See how the really unfortunate live by volunteering or travelling or spending time with those who are ill.
Start to enjoy the small pleasures, coffee while the world goes by, a sunset, a hike, the ocean walks etc.
Start the morning thinking of 1 thing you're happy/grateful for and not what you're missing out on.9
Play. Find things that arent expensive to do as a hobby.

Ultimately if you're happy within yourself, what you do and you have health and family, money is icing on the cake. I've had money and been really really unhappy. I've had pretty much no money and been really happy. Now I've got a balance after realising money wont make me any happier (well itll buy me holidays and a nice car but I'm happy with my average house, my bust up s40, holidays in the UK and my family).

100%, although I don't do well at many of those things. The gratitude one is the winner. I've also noticed that the less attention i give to FB and all that time-vampire social stuff the more content I am.

I'd also add "Don't read the Brexit thread"...

Correct don’t read it, participate!
You were getting stuck in a day or so ago......loved it ;)

Still too blinkered for my tastes. I refuse to engage in discussions with anyone who only has one perspective. It's boring. Unfortunately too much political debate seems to offer little ability to acknowledge that more than one opinion can exist, especially when debating the unknown. Perhaps we should start a religion thread. :D

Any use to anyone?

One Pound One Way - here is how
No catch or hidden costs, your rental will indeed cost you £1, but feel free to add any extras.

From time to time, we need to move vehicles between various stations, which can get expensive. If you can pick up and drop off the car where we need it, you can use the car for a whole day for just £1*- win-win!

With over 190 routes to choose from, there is £1 One Way rental for everyone!

Got engaged yesterday! On plus side, I said the QP was not up for being sold ever...only to be upgraded she said . Just hope our ideas of an upgrade are aligned.

Got my first speeding fine in Switzerland after 10 months driving here. I used to drive RHD in Melbs. If your 60km/hr over in a 80 zone you go to jail for 12 months. I got caught on a freeway bridge by a radar the speed was 80km/hr and I was going 120km/hr. I think I will be getting a big fine but It could have been much worse.

Don't know how good they are for contractors, but http://www.pms-uk.org/ did a good job for me when I was in Japan (and had been there for a number of years) and was buying a house back in the UK. They mainly deal with people in professional partnerships (law / accountancy / etc.) but that does mean they are used to people who have incomes paid outside PAYE.
Thanks Tokyomb, Will Cosgrove at this company has been brilliant, looks likely will get the mortgage offer next week.....power of the forum **thanks for all the other suggestions too, a few tried but my employment situation at the time was a stopper...
