In advance of my QP collection I'm gearing up on my detailing products. Can anyone advise a wax which would be best with Grigio Alfieri?

So far I am seeing DoDo Juice light for light paints.

DoDo juice supernatural is very good, used it on a few different colours. Though that was a while back now. My mates Mk1 Elise came up a treat with SRP then that.

All the Zaino stuff is superb.

I own a Grigio car & the key to making it look sharp is making all the glass (assuming no tints) highly polished.

most wax are good for both dark and light colours but what are you looking for in terms of finish? shine/show finish (swissvax best of show) or durability. (zymol concours and fav of mine)
raceglaze 55 or blacklabel both good.

blacklabel and zymol is best put on by hand

wax prep is also as important so suggest eraser wipedown prior to waxing

dojo natural would be the best of dojo family that ive tried

I’m looking to achieve a deep gloss wet look. Basically I want to transform the car as I know silver can look flat!

Might clay it but I have no experience in doing do! I guess I should keep it lubed and work in a left to right fashion?

most good waxes will do this, swissvax best of show ive found best for gloss without spending lots for a zymol wax, but if you can afford a wax - zymol atlantique. which ever wax I would suggest applying 3 coats to get a good high gloss

claying is good but can sometimes cause minor issues. only need to clay if surface is ruff.
as you said keep the surface lubed, work one panel at a time working top down. you don't want to be doing this in hot weather. once clayed then hose down, wash the surface again and jet wash off.

happy to show you from start to waxing if your local to MK.

Personally if you have not used clay before I would recommend a clay mitt - works really well and much easier to use and almost zero chance of creating problems for yourself.

Deep gloss shine comes from polish, not wax. Many polishes have fillers that disguise minor swirls and scratches so long as they are only in the lacquer (they should pass the finger nail test).

Alfieri and silver colours dont come up with deep gloss like dark colours such as red, yellow, dark blue, maroon and black. So that gives you a rule of dimishing returns - polishing more, using more wax fail to raise gloss levels.

Start with citrus wash. Wash it off. Then use a good tar and bug remover applied with a cloth. Wash it off. Now remove bonded in contaminants with clay. Wash down. Then car shampoo. Rinse. Dry with towel. Polish with Meguiars Stage 2 polish or Poorboys Blackhole showroom glaze. Then Dodo Juice purple haze carnauba wax (dont worry, it won't affect the silver colour even though it is suggested for dark colours). Apply s second coat of Purple Haze. Next time you wash, dry with a towel and finish with Sonax Extreme Shine detailing spray. Top up with wax every third wash and polish every other wax followed by wax.

Visit detailing world for good advice.

My Alf GS I used Harley’s and it was fab.

Great colour, especially with red leather. Loved that car and Fair2 is now enjoying her in Aus.

I've found you can get a great gloss finish from light colours with a good wax but it would depend on prep, how its applied and the condition of the paintwork. now if your talking about reflection then yes you won't get this as good as dark colours and no wax or polish will do this. fillers just hiding and masking the bad parts for a sort time

As Matt said Harleys, forgot about Harleys, I've heard good things and still on my list to test.

oh Newton wax expert can tell you all you need to know about waxes and that Zymol is one of the best. ;)

I'd recommend Zaino Z-8 "Grand Finale".. More of a spray sealant/wax, but applied properly using a good microfibre buffing towel it leaves the paintwork looking like glass, especially on darker cars. Makes mine look like its still wet. Also makes the paint feel incredibly smooth to the touch, and it smells like apples ! :D That said, I haven't been able to find any in the UK for a couple of months, its out of stock everywhere !
The only problem I have is that after using it, putting on the indoor cover is a nightmare because it just slides off all the time.

Z8 is great but currently unavailable in Europe whilst they update their health and safety advice. It’s been months since it was in short supply. God knows what they put in it!!!

Meguiars D156 is a very good alternative and readily available and has the added benefit of being less application sensitive than Z8.

Ah so that's why its disappeared everywhere! I did wonder why it was taking so long to come back in stock. I have a bit left, but maybe I should try an alternative. Annoying as Z8 really does get my paint looking its best.

Yes it is great stuff and much better than a detailing spray. The gloss and reflection in your picture looks brilliant

It really is great stuff. After a bit of looking around online, apparently Zaino europe have just had a shipment and should have some for sale online either today or at the start of next week ! :D Time to stock up!
