WATER IN THE BOOT

Soon after I bought my QPV in 2015 I found the spare wheel plastic sump liner with a couple of inches of water. After I used Capn Tolley seal around the rear window bedding and boot trim it had stayed dry.

The car has hardly been used for the last 3months, however it has happened again after all the heavy rain and seems to have entered on the right hand side. The fixed liner next to the battery is wet and then presumably soaked down into the well. Is this a known issue? Should a drain hole be drilled at the low point?

Normally left hand side and cable grommet. If I pressure wash too much in boot area the seal gets overwhelmed at the centre as when you open the boot it is wet on the inside. This obviously is a low point or boot is slightly raised there so not a strong seal. With other cars I have put glycerin or anything greasy that leaves a mark on the rubber seal and then shut the door to see if there is an area that is not sealing. Maybe worth a go.

If you can’t find the leak drill a hole at the lowest point in the spare wheel well and hammerite the hole. What drains in must drain out

Still on the hunt for the ingress point. The side trim item 42 on page 120 of eurospares is loose. Should it be glued or sealed down?

Source of water leak found. It was the rear window seal. I had removed all the boot interior and put a rectangular bucket up against the battery. After flooding the seal yesterday the bucket had traces of the white latex in the bottom this morning.
Ordered this yesterday from Amazon delivered a few minutes ago

Get the it done properly, window out. All youre doing with sealant is trapping water between the seal and body and creating a rust trap.
