If after inspection of the obvious seals a culprit is the plastic under tray which looses its bond and water ingresses from the road. Mine did

Had this on a 4200 as well. Took a while to work it out... I don't know whether the QP has the same bucket well but a prime suspect if so.

I had this problem with a GT. After a couple of unsucessful attempts at re-sealing the boot it was tracked down to the rear window seal. The window had to come out to be re-sealed fortunately with no breakage. No problems since

Hi mate
theres a few common issues on these which ive encountered
light seals
the main tub in the boot sealing
and also the numberplate light surround
Also check all weatherstrip seals around window and boot too

Had this in two of my QP V’s. Both times it was the seal around the big black rubber flexi tube you see at the top left when you open the boot (just below the rear screen). Re-seat that in some new mastic and you’ll be fine.

Ordered a new boot seal as it looks like its leaking along the boot lock area of that

Just emptied about 2 pints of water out of the tub in mine. I can't work out if it's happening when I wash it or driving in torrential rain. Standing in rain seems to be OK? It's normally clear water so doesn't seem to be bringing cr*p in with it. The carpet just inside the boot lip seems to get damp so I'm wondering if the boot seal is allowing water to 'wick' over into the boot floor as there's no obvious one corner that is wetter than another.
MarkMas - would you happen to have the ebay seller details to hand?
Cheers
Ian.

10mm hole straight through the bottom of the tub, worked for me :)

Just make sure you don’t hit anything important below.

GT classic leak is through the rear lights seal.

Had crossed my mind Matt - need to deal with the cause too though as it's saturating the carpet well on it's way through

Seriously, water ingress comes from these usual culprits and I don't advocate drilling the hole, I was being, in my mind, hilarious:

Boot seal
Bootlid to body rubber conduit - most common
Fuel filler surround
Rear tail lights - GT/QP

The first 3 do it whilst stood, the last one more so after driving.

Rear Window seals. Mine needs to be reinstalled as the glass moves when pushed from the inside. Water into boot and also behind passenger seat. Parking at incline works for now

On mine, the water was getting in the seal somewhere around the boot hinge, then running down the BACK of the liner BEHIND the rear seat bulkhead, emerging at the bottom (see white paper in picture) and then running down into the tub, but soaking the boot floor carpets on the way. Hence really hard to locate the source, since it was only wet on the floor and in the tub, not around any openings.

It was only found by my local body-shop locking an apprentice in the boot with a torch and methodically jet-washing the rear of the car.

Seems to be mostly fine with the replacement seal, although occasional dampness persists.

I then had the brake servo re-greased and the mounts replaced.

I also put a water leak alarm in the tub (it was too loud when tested, so I dismantled it and packed the speaker with some blue-tak).

TBH, I don't think the hole idea is totally crazy, since some sort of drain might prevent damage to the brake servo, if there is an undetected leak, and a LOT of water.

But I do wonder if water might come up from underneath, then, especially when splashing through Gloucestershire's potholes.
