I am sure it was very satisfying to stand back and look at that once finished, good job!

I reluctantly used a mit. I've always spent hours and hours laboriously claying cars in the past, but wow. I'd washed, rinsed, clayed, rinsed, washed and rinsed again, the whole car in under 2 hours. When I had the first opportunity of giving my last car a good clean, it took 8 hours, this time, including polish and wax, I did it in just over 4

I first use citrus wash and leave it for 20 mins before rinsing it off as the first 'proper' wash. Then clay the Porsche and Gransport every other year as I only do 3k mikes between the two of them. Even then, i can see the bonded-on contaminants lifted from the paint on the clay bar. It takes time working on one panel at a time. Then wash/rinse. Followed by Poor Boys Black Hole polish, then Dodo Juice Purple Haze carnauba wax. The result is a glass smooth mirror-like shine. Stand back and admire my efforts!

Any recommendations for a polish that has a fine cutting compound in it ? Mine is a bit swirly so it needs a light cut . I usually just use AutoGlym as a polish . Does n't the old favorate Mer have a slight cut in it ?

The AutoGlym you use is a polish...so it has a cut in it...more cut is T-Cut or preferably a 3M product such as Ultrafina (swirl remover) but you will need the mop to do it.

The 3M products have diminishing cut...they break down finer and finer as you use them.

All the other like Harleys of a Carnauba or silicon base are classed as sealants.

Get yourself a 3M mop head and a bottle of 3M Ultrafina, you know where the mop is!

I usually clay once a year and then if I can be bothered I use Menzerna Compounds which are available in four levels of cut. Seems to do a good job.

The car could really do with a blow-over, particularly on the front where there are quite a few stone chips. but unfortunately I've already spent most of my war-chest on new tyres and brake discs.
