Warranty

My new GTS came with a HR Owen RAC Platinium warranty for 12 months.

However, my policy effectively started when the lockdown commenced! Correct me if I am wrong but given that all the MDs are effectively closed and no works can be carried out, am I not now entitled to have my warranty resume from the time when the lockdown is relaxed?

While the car is sound, I can't help but think this is dead time which is wiping off my warranty cover.

No movement from RAC coks!
HR Owen though have offered me another year platinium cover which normally cost 2,300 for 1,200?

Should I?

Good luck, but a bit like asking for my April road tax to last until August. ;)

This ..... If you were using your car during lockdown and it blew up, would you expect the warranty to cover it or would you be happy with them saying it hasn't started yet?

Just to add to my point previously. You have had no loss. So your warranty was in effect, but as you did not drive it (or were unable to because of lock-down) you had no loss and no claim. So my view is that they wont extend the warranty and they are right not to do so. But they have offered you 12 months cover at a reduced premium which is very reasonable. There is no Force Majeure as you cannot show that they were unable to fulfill their contract - that's the legal bit I would think.
