Warranty related

At risk of sounding like a novice, what components of the engine relate to variators? I have looked at a couple of warranties and included parts and nothing is jumping out at me.

The variators alter the camshaft and therefore valve timing so I would look for anything that excludes valve gear or internal engine components. Also beware of a known fault clause.

The issue I had getting my claim approved is that the variators were claimed to be external....

I only see ‘camshaft and followers’? Might they be covered here? The product is protectwarranty

Are they specifically included? If they have an inclusion list, the exclusions will be huge (I'd have thought)
I can only comment on Warranty Wise which treated me pretty well

My 2006 QP shows on DVLA as 2017 car cos that's when it was imported (from Ireland), Warranty Wise keep offering me deals based on that date.

I had to argue once when a car I had jumped out of 2nd gear, ( It came with 3 month warranty.) Spotty faced youth quoted gears, clutch. bearings etc at me, but because warranty didn't specifically say gearbox, he was lost. Senior salesman appeared and said "Just have Mr Fishers car fixed"!

I had an MG Metro Turbo many moons ago that I bought about 3 or so years old maybe from a Rover main dealer. In 18 months it had 2 new Gold Seal engines and 4 new Gold Seal gearboxes. Then the 5th gearbox was required! They refused to fix it any more. My old man and his mate came down the dealer with me in Whetstone. Sat down and had a chat with the General Manager. He explained that they had already fixed more than they should have done. My dad's mate pinned him up against the wall and he decided to change his mind. The car was fixed and I offloaded it shortly after before it broke again.

I suppose we all have skeletons in our closets? I test drove a Diesel MG ZR once, then bought a Seat Ibiza. Close call that
