Warranty Questions...

Hi there guys,
A couple of quick questions...
  1. if a Manufacturer's warranty expired at the end of August (3 years old) what are the chances of Maserati reinstating it?
  2. if it can be revived does anyone have an idea what the cost would be (i.e. the 4th year).
Cheers.

No idea of the cost but I would think Maserati will have some sort of warranty available subject to an inspection etc.

Yeah, it’s the fact it’s just expired, I wondered if they’d accept it was a mistake and simply reinstate it. It’s a sale-or-return car where the owner let it expire - I’ve asked if he can call to try and reinstate it then discuss the cost.

Ask HR Owen, it was always the case that if it had expired by even one day, it couldn’t be extended. I believe now they can be extended if elapsed, but I’ve only heard that from HR Owen. It’s about £2200 one year, £3800 two years.

Thanks Dicky; appreciate the insight. Checked your website yesterday but stock seems low - you don’t have any 18+ cars on the horizon do you?

We did have a lot of stock but have been really busy, 7 GT Sports gone in last 6 weeks.
Always looking for later cars, I’ve been to buy two in recent weeks but they weren’t up to standard. I’m waiting on a gentleman letting me know about a 2020 plate too.

A lot of risk in re-instating cover.

I wouldn't if I was an insurer.
Risk for the insurer absolutely - just wondered whether an owners plea that he ‘forgot’ might work given its only been a matter of weeks. Porsche allow this but insist on an inspection first (as I understand it).
Might be a non-starter but I’ve asked the question

I tend to agree with the above, it depends on one’s intentions. It does most definitely add value to a car and make it more sellable though.

Agreed with manufacturers warranty not 3rd Party. They tend to not be worth the paper they are printed on in most cases although so e are luckier than others with claims.

Yes it is manufacturers warranty we have been discussing as per OP’s question. Some third party ones are actually better in practice than the Trident one.

Thanks Dicky - is the trade only though?
Cheaper through trade than buying retail. I can sell them but insist on an inspection first as the price of my warranties go up when there are claims against ones I’ve sold.

Really, what a funny system, hardly your fault if something unexpected happens! Let’s see where I get to as I may be in touch to see what can be worked between us depending on what I’m being offered
