Hello!

Had loads of great advice on here for Insurance companies, thank you.

Looking at buying a 2017 Ghibli, and I'm after advice on whether the dealers warranties are worth anything? Been reading so many conflicting reviews.....
Mainly poor reviews!

Also can anyone recommend a reputable mechanic in the Northants/MK area?

Thank you!

Cannot vouch for a Mas dealer warranty, but Merc approved used is spot on so far.

Few us in Northampton/MK areas so welcome and good luck in your search.

The problem with dealer warranties is you will have a bit of a schlep to get to one if (when) you need something fixing.

There aren’t too many specialists close by. Shilltech are in Leicester. A few of us from around the Northampton neck of the woods take the trip down to Southampton to Sports Italia.

Official Dealer wise you are looking at Gray Paul Nottingham or Birmingham.

When you get your car be sure to introduce yourselves in the Newbies section. :)

I extended the manufacturer’s warranty on mine from 3 to 5 yrs. At £3k for the extra 2 years, I wouldn’t make that decision again as a specialist could do a lot of work for that kind of money.
Just over 6 months to run so I may think differently by the end!

Conversely, the previous owner of mine GT Sport had an extended warranty and it came it useful to replace the gearbox.

The last couple of cars I’ve bought I’ve asked the dealer as a gesture of faith/goodwill to underwrite any repairs needed on the car for 30 days 1k miles on top of the standard warranty they provide. Then I price up on warrantywise the annual cost of their top warranty put that money away and top up monthly as a buffer.

The 3rd party warranty that came with my GTS replaced my steering rack with no quibble.
The key I believe is to go to the selling dealer and get them to make the claim.

Steering Box ?
My bet was it was the pump as I changed a few under warranty.

I had a WarrantyWise warranty on my GTS and it was excellent. Never a quibble.

Similar. They actually offered me a renewal quote that was less than the value of the cheque they'd just paid me and I hadn't cashed yet.

Quentin had to get involved on my variators but they paid for a lot of it

They quoted me for a warranty about 5 years ago. I turned the price down. They then spent the next 8 weeks hounding me with emails and phone calls dropping the price each time. It ended up being £650 cheaper than their first quote.

I ended up blocking their number. Ive heard nothing but good reports for service and quibble free claims but their sales technique were akin to timeshare sales tactics.
