On a 4.2 auto, you have to modify the exhaust to get anywhere near the sound quality of a later 4.7 S.
The sweet spot being a post 2009 4.7 S MC-shift in standard form. Pops and crackles, rev blips and still that classy maserati tone. Start adding any mods and you introduce Rasp for the sake of volume.
Whilst I much prefer my 2014 Sport to my previous 2013 S, the S exhaust definitely made a better noise with standard exhausts on both

Yep, that's exactly what I found going from 2011 S MC-shift to a 2013 Sport MC-Shift. The noise was slightly lacking in comparison. The x-pipe was a must on the Sport for me, but not necessary on the S.

I do think there's a couple of reasons for this.
I'm sure there is better sound proofing on the Sport, as the road noise is definitely too, so would effect the exhaust sound getting in the cabin.
The software on the downshift blip is definitely less aggressive. I have found that if you let the revs drop a little lower, then double tap two gears down on the sport, you get the same effect.
Also, the newer car is, well, newer. So the exhaust is newer and in my case had covered much less mileage. I have definitely found, now I have put plenty of spirited miles on it, that the mufflers are loosening up and the sound has improved significantly.

Yawn, waiting waiting...

I just spammed a load of pistonheads members to see if any will sell.

At this point I'm almost ready to just give my money to a scammer - surely there is a Nigerian prince looking to sell!

And if you do not want black or white, or black leather you will, like me be waiting a long time.

Hi - I'm in the early stage of hunting for a new (to me) weekend, fun car which works for the family.

Looking for:

- 4.7 Granturismo MC Shift or Auto

- Black / Dark grey / Silver exterior with black leather.

- Ideally 2010 onwards.

- Ideally around 40,000 miles or less.

- Ideally based around the south east, to make viewing easier and I would want an inspection to be carried out (Dale at Prestige Autoworks seems favourable).

Looking to spend ~£30k to £35k - send me a message if you are thinking of selling a car which fits the bill.

Perfect, suits every one of your criteria. And it’s Nuvola.

I'm fine with that

I did contact Nuvola about that one, it has been for sale a few months (4th July?). I was told they don't have it "in stock", so would need to give them a couple weeks notice to view it so they could get it from the owner, clean and prep it.

I am planning to try and see it eventually through

For the added peace of mind I would chase that Nuvola car. You know it will be spot on coming from Nareman (apart from the yellow calipers obviously) ;)

I'll be looking to replace my 2011 4.7s in the new year if you're still looking. I've owned this car for just over three years and currently it has just under 25k miles and just one previous celeb owner. It's always been kept garaged and everything is in good order.

Thanks - I bought one off Richard Grace last week.

Good luck with the sale
