Hi

I have been looking for a 4200 for a short while, but haven't really found one I like. I am puzzled by the prices and mileages, with some with 80,000 miles going for the same as some with 25,000. Also hard to tell what full service history means in reality etc etc.

Thought I would ask on here to see if anyone is planning on selling theirs. I just missed out on Matt82's lovely manual one, which was disappointing. I would prefer darker interior, would love a manual and well maintained.

Thanks
Jeff

I'd rather have one that s been driven some miles than one that has been sat in a garage . They do not like being sat still for long periods of time . History is everything . Good independents are just as good if not better some times than main dealer stamps. Check the clutch wear , The wishbones for cracking and rust under the rear lights. Other than that just use your eyes . The later 4200 facelifts are the pick of the bunch . Good luck with your search.

Ditto what Spartacus says. Indies trade on reputation, so if they have inspected a car they will pick up on most if not all faults and would make recommendations. Dealers give you a stamp in the book and a bill.

I wouldn't worry about mileage, mine got up to 90k without issue, just check clutch wear, front and rear subframes, bushes. Rust shouldn't be an issue either.

Thanks Spartacus, understood. I have just been through restoring a couple of Triumph Stags and they too hate to sit around. They hate running too, but that's another story.

Thanks Martin, much appreciated. I may pop by and see this one https://www.felbridgecarcompany.co.uk/used-cars/maserati-coupe-4-2-gt-2dr-hartfield-202105062274298 and see what the classify as 'full service history'.

For a Porsche specialist he has 3 Maserati in stock.
The Classico Cambio Corsa looks nice.
Have you seen the higher mileage GS for sale ?

Yes, may take a trip out to Swansea and have a look, Omicron permitting. And yes, seen the GS - lovely car but a bit out of my range.

Thanks

Are you after a manual? The vast majority prefer a Cambiocorsa as that’s how the car was intended to be, the manual gearbox was an afterthought. Some like it, but most prefer the F1 gearbox.
Yes, I would really prefer a manual. There is a CC in the next town to me listed on Autotrader so I will go and have a ride in it and see what it's like.

If you’ve driven the manual and prefer it over a late Cambiocorsa then go for it.

I hear that's what all the Ferrari Salesmen said when selling the 430, 612, 599 etc. new... All sought after in manual guise now.

Ferraris are sought after in manual guise, ergo these models are, often down to rarity rather than being ‘better’. The manual 4200 is not ‘better’ than a Cambiocorsa. It is only my opinion, but a well researched one, coming from someone who’s driven 6 manuals and at least 150 Cambiocorsas.
