Well, Arlon, BE first.

My garageman is closed, always like him to take a look over car before a long trip, but I've just had all new tyres, discs and pads, oil etc not due till another 3k miles, so I'll just check the fluids before I set off.

Taking car with me obvs.

I have the French stuff from last years holiday trip, might need new breathalysers if they are out of date (actually not sure I collected them from Dublin, *****). Anyway, have the French toll tag in car, anyone any ideas what I need for BE and LU? Will the French one work (emovis I think it was) or so I need yet another, already got the French one and my Irish one I won't need but might as well keep in case I go back.

Been online, very confusing, all seem to be directed toward fleets, not a single car.

Or, since I'm in no rush on the trip down, should I stick to non-toll roads?

I plan keep car there for 3 months, so I can move my stuff about til I find a place (got Airbnb in BE) and return it to UK when snow tyres needed and I've hopefully found a place in LU city where I won't need a car over winter.

They do not have toll roads in Belgium and pretty sure they don't in Luxemburg

Good luck with the move

Enjoy. I drove through both Belgium and Luxembourg, I never saw any tolls. I wouldn't want to pay in Belgium anyway their roads were by far the worst!

Cheers all. I thought I'd take the Eurotunnel which means I will have to travel through France, I'll check ferries but I'd imagine they'd cost a lot more than Le Tunnel (£88).

I'll still be posting my cr@p and I think they have Internet in EU?

Still have my place in UK so not so much a move more a temp relocate see what happens and decide then. I think UK is fuckked for my industry and generally with these clowns in charge so I'm hedging my bets.

Last year when we went to Ghent we got the Dover Dunkirk ferry and it was cheaper than the the Chunnel.

When do you plan to go to Luxembourg, because currently it is not possible to cross the border between France and Belgium?

They do have internet in the EU but now we control our borders your posts won't be allowed in.

What is it you do @Wanderer ? I would love to leave the UK right now... or maybe just move to Durham.

Belgium roads are terrible, you want to spend as little time on them as possible

Good luck with the move

Enjoy your time in Arlon - great roads just north and East of there. It's only a quick blast up the E25 to Spa as well, so worth taking in some of the 'free' days of racing they have there.
We lived in Belgium for 5 years so shout if you need any help.
I know friends who have been crossing into Belgium from Germany and Holland recently, just increased border control and if stopped proof of why your journey is required. I have not heard of any experience with the French/Belgium border but would imagine it is the same.
Probably best to take the A25 north of Calais, then Lille, Tournai, then the E42 to north of Namur, then head down the E411 to Arlon.

Have fun!
