Wall mounted vacuum??

Bored of picking up the hand held Dyson after someone has put it back uncharged. Another first world problem......
Think I need a mains-powered vacuum and ideally wall mounted to keep garage floor clutter to a minimum.

I‘ve seen the GarageVac Mk2 which looks really neat and compact, also the Sealey GV180WM Garage Vacuum. Both have long hoses but they don’t come cheap.
Anyone have any recommendations for the ideal car vacuum??

Thanks,

Mark.

I looked into this a while ago, the garage vacs are a lot of cash.

Personally I would buy a used upright dyson as make some brackets and get a long hose for it.

+1 for a Henry. Speak to Beau of this parish as he does (or did) refurbed ones. Miner's been excellent

This sounds like a normal married blokes situation .....but it’s being dealt with in a snowflake kinda way.
“Someone has put it back uncharged” - no sh1t Sherlock, I’m guessing that would be youre Wife then.
Think you need to either
A) recharge what you have and take charge as the man of the house, and the fact that it’s a Dyson (apparantly a pinnacle product) it will be pretty unbeatable when working. Use it or

B) retrain your wife, to the LED lights and what they mean.

Or
C) Zep would like you to buy another “upright Dyson”, pretend it’s a portable one (which you’ve already got) by making some brackets for it (presumably to wall mount). What??.

A longer hose may not provide the satisfaction required.

Dyson's are rubbish. This is the conclusion I've come to after having three of them (all bought by the missus).
They breakdown easily. The suction is rubbish. And they're mega expensive.

We've just bought a £100 Hoover one for the house and it's better than the £350 Dyson we had.
For the cars I've got a Karcher one from their on line outlet store. Much cheaper than normal and works a treat!

The problem is the EU have limited domestic vacuums to 1,000w which has meant to get any serious suck the units have been scaled down hence the move to cordless as 1,000w is easily doable at 18v. Now if you plumbed that into your house it would be woeful with added inefficiencies if leaking sockets etc. I think the first time it blocked you would go spare.

personally I’m intending to keep my Hoover 612 going for another 70+ years! I believe I may have to make some parts for it sooner or later as they are getting like rocking horse poo!

Thanks guys, I’m getting the message that nobody thinks it’s worth paying top dollar for a wall mounted GarageVac or the like.
The refurb’d Henry sounds like a great idea as with the best will in the world, I don’t see myself training wife and certainly not three teenage/nearly teenage daughters that if you use the handheld for 20 secs enough times, it will eventually run out of charge......
Best, Snowflake.:)

I’ve been doing some internet research and apparently some of these longer hose products are available in black with far fewer complaints.

Just saying.

I am deeply ambivalent about vacuum cleaners, mine seems to work fine as the carpet is clean after it’s been used, but each to their own! :D

Exactly and frankly the only reason one needs to leave ;)

Sorry I'm really struggling with this. WTF are they doing with it if not putting it back in the charging cradle? Or is it some odd different one?

It‘s a relatively new and ridiculously expensive (for what it is!) Dyson handheld. It has a cable you plug in and it’s hit & miss as to whether the kids plug it in after a quick use.
To be honest I have always found battery operated ones irritating as they run out just before you have finished so I want a main powered one that lives with the cars and is just me to use!!!

This, PM Beau on this forum, he has the pre Euro banned max 800 watt b0llox, he has used full fat ones at sensible prices.

moving this on a step, hose and Jetwash, garage wall mounted...

Cheaper and easier to pay someone :D

The same as others I've had 2 full fat Henry's from Beau and they work really well. Never moan, no charging, full power and not expensive.

We do have an upright Dyson and a wall mounted Dyson handheld cordless. Mainly it is what the wife wanted so she can have it.

Personally I think the Dyson units are expensive and don't perform well over time also being quite sensitive. Most people don't maintain or clean them often or well enough and the Dyson units then suffer as over sentitive and not robust enough.

Henry is very robust and just doesn't ever complain. Simple and very effective.

I also have one of Beaus old school Henrys, excellent. The upright Dyson was too brittle, and don't get me started on the handheld......!
