Yes, I had been playing earlier so I’m not too distraught. TBF he had started to follow me after I passed him somewhat earlier so I think he may have waited for the average to drop (I can keep believing that, it will make me happier).
That's 'good service' if he did do that. I'm going up and down that way next weekend so may play if there's others around...or if no-one is in sight...

Got sent to the naughty step this morning by a Thames Valley scuffer in an unmarked black BMW M40 J10-11 .5 mile average 99mph!

Oh well do the crime and all that!

I wouldn’t be too joyous as yet, anything over 96 has to go to court. Also, your highest speed will be shown on the video that has already been submitted. Still, look on the bright side, you won’t get hit as hard as I will!

I read somewhere about spotting unmarked police cars;

  1. There's always two in in hi-vis
  2. No dealer or other markings on number plates
  3. Plethora of things stuck to the windscreen
  4. If sharp-eyed you can see the blue lights in the radiator grille (unless on way to Barnard Castle)
  5. I think too there was mention ion extra wee aerials dotted about the car.

Which one of you was this then?

This lad was on his own, in uniform but no high viz, modern unmarked are very hard to spot aaa lights and other adornments are very discreet now.

Usually a Beemer or Skoda Superb. Though it is minorly amusing when the taxi passengers in the latter wonder why the mildly pale and nervous man in a ******* 156 is staring at them as he drives past at 70.5mph...

I was stuck in traffic on the M6 a few months back , an unmarked car came down the hard shoulder with the blue grille lights on , a grey Nissan Xtrail, that's just not playing fair

Oops. Accumulated gold stars or a one-off lapse of moderation?
Already had three points prior to this occasion, two of the magistrates wanted to give me a two week ban which would have cost me my job, but I had a really good barrister in my corner and some handy character references. Lesson duly learnt...!

Yes they can, at least in US spec cars. There is an outfit in Texas that does forensic examination of OBDII systems, for insurance etc. They can also verify mileage from OBD.
Happens in this country too especially after serious collisions according to a well placed source of mine.

Does that suggest the Audi was nicked,or that one of the arrested chaps had stolen some other car? Either way, good. (Assuming it was them what done it.)

Here's a video I remember from a while back which was doing the rounds. Audi R8 racing a couple of motorbikes in Brazil. Terrifying.

Bad luck, Newton. The M40 is renowned for it's police absence which has always made it a great, fast-moving road with little interference. Maybe they're having a crack down or just need to fill the coffers?

As a tip I always use Waze for anything more than a short journey as it's great for warning of police presence and activity, especially for those times when one might accidentally press the throttle pedal harder than one should - I doubt you were the only one they caught that day.

Well the letter dropped on the mat this morning: 5 points and £560 fine for a timed 0.5 miles at 99 constant.

first points since 1989!

For me it's not the speed, it's the kick in the back acceleration 30-50 or 40-70, so I stick to the limit now (mostly!)

And the cornering, the cornering goes without saying, but apart from that, what have V8 supercars ever done for us?
