Many years ago my brother put a rod through the block of his M3 on the way to the Nurburgring the AA got him back to the UK and to the dealer.
They told him there had been a missed gear change at speed and no warranty.
Cost him a lot of money disputing it but they won.

What i do know as fact, back in 2005 I bought a new RX8 , some idiot ( I can say that now after 15 years ) decided to commit suicide by jumping out in front of the car on a cold dark November evening , fortunately for me i was well below the 70 mph , the car was a mess and impounded by the police , they confirmed to me that my speed was in fact 54mph and that my recollection of my braking times was pretty spot on , i was exonerated from any prosecutions at the inquest and the result was accidental death , the whole damnn thing took a year to come to fruition and screwed me up a little , known nuisance drug addict who had been into the police station 30 minutes before the incident , which was virtually outside said police station on the A27 in Worthing ...........................the police said then computers now can give us untold amounts of information

A few years back driving from Oslo to Gothenburg on the newly opened section of E6 north of Vatland I can across an electronic speed warning. It said 'Din Fart Er 142' in flashing red..... 7 days later I tried again 220 this time...... Following week Din Fart Er XXX seems it gave up at 250kmh :) (Supercharged 6.3l Pontiac at 700 bhp.)

North Wales - they hide round corners, in gardens!
Sweden - Please stop speeding
Norway - Arrested, charged, court, £800 fine, 2 weeks prison (suspended) all done in 2 hours and back on the road!
Denmark - Paid by credit card at side of road. Option B was they would sell car, deduct fines and give me change!!
Germany - they pointed guns at me!
Hungary - they gave up chasing at 65 mph.
Poland - nobody seemed to care either way!
Russia - they fired guns at me

i believe its a fact they can read and print out what limits the car has reached , anyone able to confirm or deny this
Yes they can, at least in US spec cars. There is an outfit in Texas that does forensic examination of OBDII systems, for insurance etc. They can also verify mileage from OBD.

Got sent to the naughty step this morning by a Thames Valley scuffer in an unmarked black BMW M40 J10-11 .5 mile average 99mph!

Oh well do the crime and all that!

In four days time I'll be back to 'nil pois' on my licence thank gawd, had to go in front of the beak in Oxford for my sins, a proper grilling from three of the nastiest officers of the court I've ever come across, a horrible experience where I came within a whisker of losing my job. Six gold stars and an 850 sovs fine. Never again!

Oops. Accumulated gold stars or a one-off lapse of moderation?

Was it a 3 Series Estate? They've been using one along there for a while.
