Well I went to see this car as I was possibly interested. The garage had a reasonable reputation from people I have spoken with. It is a £50000 (more or less) car and I will not be progressing the idea.
Firstly the exterior looks are great, it is a lovely colour and above all it carries its huge length very very well and I do not think this would prevent me from buying one providing I can fit it in my garage - which I think I can.
The interior is brown and too dark for my taste. The seats comfortable and the dash ok (I think my QPV) is better. The clock is tiny. Heaps of room in the back too.
I ambled up to it and the 12 year old sales assistant hovered, I was keen at this point. For some reason I went to the front passenger door first and opened it. There did not appear to be an electrical assist as on my QPV. Sat in and all was well. Got out and closed the door and it simply would not shut properly leaving a step out on the body panel of the door. We tried several times and eventually got it shut by slamming it hard. All the other doors opened and closed well enough but no assist - is this an option? The wood grain was disappointing for me but there were some nice touches like the centre arm rest. the rear arm rest seemed bereft of controls as in my QPV like massage controls etc. By now I had lost it completely and the 12 year old was still trying to open and close the passenger door. So as a token I had a quick shufty at a Jaguar XE which was better than I thought but did not like the interior mix of red and black and a Jaguar F Pace which was also let down by the interior.
So I did not try the engine or anything else as the door experience put me off. Poor preparation by the garage.
I live to fight another day

**** poor preparation... Never ceases to amaze me how they can get something so wrong when selling a car. This puts me straight off like it did you. I went to GC and they simply couldn't be bothered. Car was scratched and mucky. Oh we have a bodyshop, all cars go there once sold. You'd sell a lot more if you prepped them before sticking them on your forecourt.

Hasn't Dicky got a QP VI GTS a bit cheaper than that one ?

Oh and I had a XE with the black and red and loved it....Even if the build quality ant quite up to the Germans....and still isn't from what owners have said.

Its aimed at a different market to the lovely QP V from what I can tell. It seems to be a more everyday car....Perhaps tas it is you lose some of that mGic that you get when you take your QP V for that weekend blast......

a door like that would make me think of something bad: a big fender-bender and chassis damage.

As I received some thumbs up on the autoroute and people undertaking me to encourage me to get in the outside line and boot it, one man even wound down all his windows to hear the engine, I did wonder if the QP 6 would have garnered the same reaction....

Aston Rapide S next for me, but even that has a slush box which is really p*ssing me off...

These are getting a lot of car for the money on the used market. Non S in the 40's.....S is the one to have though and theyhave lost a shed load of money since knew. The interior is a lovely p,ace to be. Some say there isn't room in the back but I found it very comfortable and my boys loved the rear seat entertainment which most seem to have been optioned with. Owners who have had a DBS and a Rapide S have said that the engine is better in the Rapide than the DBS.
