I know... Cheap for a reason.... But this seems very cheap for a reason.

Cheap at the moment but sorting the Aircon and central locking could be expensive for sure.
Many people won't touch a category car though.

If I’m not mistaken a Cat D is a minor accident?

If that was the case I wouldn’t mind if it was a manual, I’d pass on this one and its GM 4 speed.

Cheap at the moment but that's just the current highest bid in a live auction with quite a lot of interest.

Potential to bankrupt! You would need to be brave, mad,or both. But the world needs those people. Good luck to whoever buys it, it does look nice.

Spent less on my 456 than I did on my 360 and back in 2012 keyboard warriors said the V12 would bankrupt me.

The guys at the Ferrari specialist down the road said the 456 is one of the most reliable. They’ve only seen 1 engine failure which was over 100,000 miles and he thinks it that was bad luck. The most troublesome bit is the wiper motor that controls the active underbody spoiler.

I really fancy an auto one.

Mine was a 98 GTA and even the wife at the time would drive it.
It was effortless the only thing spoiling the drive was wind noise from the door windows.
Never had any issues otherwise loved the active spoiler.

Me too. But blue with a light interior. And a decent history.

I could afford to buy one, but not to run one, unfortunately.
That's what mine was TDF blue with tan looked amazing sounded amazing on Tubis and with only 25,000 miles the service history and invoices scared me to death.
Still enjoyed being able to say my first Ferrari was a V12 though :)

I had a manual 1995 456 for 5 years and was very expensive to run. Mine had 25k miles when i got it and had about 35k when i sold it. Engine was very good and no real problems other than leaking valve cap gaskets. I had to do a full gearbox rebuild because of reverse cog ring snapping one day. Had repeatedly absorbers leaking. Aircon actuators were getting stuck occasionally. Also, a decade ago servicing for this cars was just cheaper following the price rally in the middle of the past decade costs rallied in tandeem. I found the transaxle QPV very similar in spirit but a lot less troublesome. I think running cost are about 1/3 and when i fix something in the QPV it just doesn't break again after a year or so.

Well, someone got a bargain or a headache:

Not necessarily. There are fees on top and the way collecting cars works, it’s down to the seller and buyer to now conclude a private sale. This car has been through before and obviously that “sale” didn’t happen.

Having said that, the price seems keen and perhaps it is a bargain of sorts.

I was wondering as you often see them pop back up for sale time after time.
The other 456M that keeps appearing on the Market has been auctioned and then as a classified ad and back up for auction.

If the sale is completed then sub £25k for a V12 Ferrari seems good value, central locking and zircon might need attention but they are not showstoppers to enjoyment. These low end cars always need brave souls to survive so hopefully this will be the case.

It's an interesting business model. The buyer is has now paid a non-refundable 'buyer premium' of £1,400 (6%), and then seems to have the option on whether and how to go ahead on the deal.

Someone I met had a business just buying cars at auction, buffing them up and selling them 'privately'. If he bought a 'dud' he just put it back in the next auction, relying on there being 'one bigger mug than me'.

This isn't the same black one that one of the large auction houses had as a classified sale last year is it? It got mentioned on here. I don't recall that one being a cat car mind.23k is a little as they get apart from the 17k car on PH a good few years back, but different times etc.
