Variator issue on all GT ?

I've got a GT with a chassis number that would suggest I may get the variator issue. 50,000 miles in, no hint or sign of it. Perhaps my exhaust is to loud to hear the engine

My car is in a heated garage so I don't know whether that affects it.. as most people claim there variator problem is worse in winter.

On any one you're looking at you need to start it from cold.
You will soon know.

I noticed a ticking the other day at idle. My cam caps are done. Not noticed it before cannot hear it other than stationary. Any thoughts?

Thank god you don't get all these price based suspect Fiat/Maser engineered component's with old school Maserati 3200's
