Yep, had Project Karma visit a couple of times to give it the Swissvax TLC treatment. Some nice pics also on that site. It probably looks better now than when I bought it! I may alter the price of the car a little soon as I've still not had enough interest in it.

Have you tried selling it privately? Out of interest, do you tell DL what to advertise it for or do you say what you want back and they work out the sale price? Surely if you take out DL's margin, the cost of a warranty etc the car would become very attractively priced compared to the competition.

MS had a bit of a ding dong with DL Woody...There's a thread on here somewhere...But they put it up for a price without checking with him first. DL will aim to get waht MS wants for the car and add a % for themselves plus warrenty and px.....So yes MS could sell for less but it's if he has the time and wants the hassle....Plus some only want these cars with the brilliant Maserati warrenty...Would imagine DL would tel MS if the price was ambitious.

It's the hassle factor really.

You can get all sorts of timewasters when selling privately, and I'm away on business for a lot of time plus have a girlfriend who lives abroad, thus you can imagine that the last thing I want to do in my rare free moments is entertain time-wasters!

I stand to lose quite a lot as a result with DL taking their cut. But at the moment I don't have much of a choice if you take into account the above. In a perfect world I would have a forum buyer come in, someone like Loz or Matt who have seen the car and know the history, then life would be easy. Also, I would actually be happy to cut a bit of a deal with a forum member just to see the GS go to a good home (hmm, feels like I'm selling a pet or something!). Might even be tempted to offer some sort of 'warranty' myself since I know the car's a good 'un.

Tomorrow (Monday) I'll be asking DL to lower the price a little, and also give me a figure for the work done on the car to get it back to standard. This means I know what it will cost me if they can't sell it and I choose either to sell it privately or just have it back for myself.

Cheers,

Pat

hi mate,

Yep, exchanged a few PM's with Pat about this - they advertised it at something like £30,995 or something. I asked DL for pics as I hadnt seen any of the Rame Ghibli but they told me it had sold! I wish they'd just sent the pics and made a note of what the price should have been.

MS....My car dealer friend has a small garage in St Arvans in Chepstow..He has sold all sorts over the years and has sold two cars for me.....If you get no luck from DL I's sure he would help you sell...His cut I would imagine is far lower than DL....He is currently selling my M5 and in the past he has sold a 3200, 4200 and QP...Untill a month ago he hd a GT for sale as well............May be worth a call. I trust him 110% and a few of the guys on here met him at the track day and the meal the night before.......Just a thought to help...Plus I'm up there alot and could sit and look at your car for hours.

Here is his web site....

Hi Pat,

Completely relate to that! When I sold my M3 I was afraid of getting messers but I reckoned you can filter them out. Peckers who ring asking how fast it is or write mails to you in text speak, sending offers at 60% of asking price etc etc quickly weed themselves out. With the M3, as with the GS, you're an enthusiast to buy one and know the questions genuine buyers want to know.

Best of luck with the sale Pat - I think you've got a small market and with the forums and PH you'd have most potential buyers within your grasp. I would have thought DL would put the car in from of most of the remaining market but to get the buyer, it will take time. It appears to be a great car so will find a home eventually.

New price for car, £33950.
Lotta car for the money - probably the fastest GS in the country, and I've not seen a cleaner example.
Plenty of scruffy ones out there for a similar price.
Ever wanted to own a car which makes everyone go "WOW"!? :jptongue:
