Unleashing more power of 4.7 engine ?

Just curious to see if there are any safe and tested ways to unleash more power or more livelihood on the 4.7 engine of GTS with MC shift ?

Not that the car is slow but always good to get the most of these engines. I feel the factory went with moderate tuning on these cars

Agreed. The supercharger is the most efficient route for power. There is no reason why you have to go Novitec though, it can be done as a custom job by any suitable supplier. The car would then have to be mapped and of course, more power, requires more stopping power.

I remember when Bernie and Leapoop went to Rotrex (Sweden or Norway from memory) and they let them have a go in their demo car.

It was an F430 with twin Rotrex chargers, Ill see if I can find the vid...

Hum, Strad, more power and I already have the brakes.

Zep, what do you recon?

The F430, is basically the same engine with one major exception, it has twin plenums so twin superchargers can be fitted. With the Maz, you would be looking at a single unit...or change the plenums but then it gets tricky.

with a single charger, and remap with some injector work you would be looking at 600hp.

Krishnas mate Stu recons he could do it for £3-4k

Whilst super charging is the next step, I don’t really want to modify the engine as such , just want it to have similar characteristic or power as f430 ( considering they share the same engine , or at least what it seems to me ).

What is restricting the m136 engine on GTS compared to f430 ?

Crank is different and coupled with the dual plenum and dual throttle bodies, this is where the main differences are.

The rest will be fuelling and mapping.

Mapping a petrol engine makes no differance in the real world . The graph might say it has more power but side by side with a standard car there is no differance .

Anyone tried this DMS remap? A 10% increase in power is pretty reasonable.

Looking at that graph it looks like they have raised the rev limit to get the increase in peak power, so it’s not perhaps as impressive as it first appears. I would imagine however with high flow cats and a remap you would see a genuine 20bhp increase. This is typical of NA cars. Anymore and you would need to look at cams and head work which really is deep into the law of diminishing returns. I think as others have said, supercharging will be the most bang for the buck but I can’t see how it could be done for £4K. Having supercharged a car myself and known others who have done various makes it is almost always 8-12k when all said and done. The lower price is usually is a system without an intercooler, the latter with one and all the associated plumbing. To get the most out of it you will need sports cats, injectors, supercharger, intercooler, plumbing, dyno time and potentially a stand alone piggy back ECU depending on how flexible the OEM unit is.

How would you raise the rev limit by intercepting the signal from the throttle pedal? I'm curious if there is a way, 'cos I'll be damned if I can think of one without getting into the ECU

You need to access the ecu, no doubt. Standard car makes peak power at around 7k if I remember correctly, this one is making it at 8k+.
