Detuned to make it more road friendly. Just a bunch of old men buying cars they can't drive.

Regarding the 40k. Not behind the sofa but yes. Although I don't know you, so ask bebs.

Not really. A 600bhp SBC won’t be pulling cleanly until at least 3500rpm.

I read all this stuff about how “race car for the road” and how such and such is “just like a race car” or “I’d love a race engine in my Golf”. It’s all ********. Race cars are absolutely hideous on the road, I’ve got two and they’re both shocking.

I never suggested they drive it on the road.

That's just hogwash. A race car is a race car. A road car is a road car. Those who want to "race" on the road deserve to crash.
I thought you inferred that this car had only been de-tuned so that the untalented old man most likely to be driving it would be capable of doing so. Did I miss your point?

If you are looking to spend 40-50k please consider one of these. Affordable to run on road and track after initial layout and it just is in a different league in terms of purity of driving experience to anything in its cost bracket and even much more expensive.

Of course, it's my completely biased opinion.

Well yes I do get chilly Willy for a bit but the engine being just behind does provide satisfactory warmth.
The air flow is so good that driving with glasses on never gets any insects in your eyes and yet you can see them smashed in the tiny aero screen.
Gone Sunday morning, I drove to Ariel's 70th anniversary for its motorcycle division in 4 Deg. Didn't mind it a bit.
It's is very fast though and balls do tend to disappear up my bum sometimes .

had a blast against atom in my 3200 and 'appeared to beat him' in a drag race. Once back at the NEC hall 5 discovered my PZero Corsa spat gravel in his face. After that every run was wearing helmet. I like the sunshine and fresh air so prefer a screen to protect my delicate fizzog

any Race engine for the road is like an erection on uninhabited desert island, entirely pointless* and only impressive to the owner.

*there is a point, but onanism is the worst use for a 40k toy

I’ve been in an Atom and had the dubious experience of seeing a good mate ‘split’ his Atom on the central reservation Armco on the M6. 3 wheels were ripped off, just about every tube was damaged and they ended up stationary in the middle lane. Fortunately, all 3 lanes stopped before they ran through the back of him. The car was totalled, which was a shame as one of the strengthening webs had been signed by the owner of Arial and the designer. Having been so close to the destruction, my spyder was damaged by flying debris, I very much doubt I’ll ever be buying one, no matter how ‘driver focused’ they are.

Tbf, the Ultima GTR I went in didn’t really inspire much confidence either; every time he squeezed the throttle the f*cker tried to kill us. Bloody fast when it hooked up though, and it sounded awesome in a ‘muscle car’ kind of way.

The GTR I drove once did feel very mechanical, especially gearchanges. Three phase operation. Clutch. Out of gear. Into next gear.
dangerous in a good way? The chassis is well engineered and housed running gear for McLaren F1 while Jonathan palmer put in the miles.

Still enjoying it then, fella?

Yes! It's been a very good first year with it. Lots of good roads driven with some fellow Atomistis' and learned to be careful with the right foot. As on many occasions the car likes to go sideways even if accelerating in 4th gear.
Track days to come next year and that would be where the real potential of Atom will be realised.
Now SORN and under blankets till March!

As if by magic, a photo of said Atom popped up on the web. Both suffered whiplash but otherwise escaped unharmed.

this was on the motorway, if your school play is on the m6, then the headteacher should rethink their stage positioning.
It seems unlikely that a school play would ever be performed on any kind of road. However, it's very normal to use a variety of roads, including motorways, to travel from A to B. One might assume.

Or are you just being argumentative? Sorry, I lose track.
