Took the 348 to have its tyres checked as the rears were losing air. Was the valves, checked the rims all ok. Tyres refitted and both found with eggs on the inner wall! Ouch. Oh well......"Dear Santa two Pzero asimmetricos please."
It will be another thing off the list though.

Yup, sounds like a great excuse to go Michelin all round. Those p zeros are old tech now too.

Not sure about that, Pirelli have a huge amount of data from the F1 tyre programme that'll soon filter down to road cars

Not so far it hasn’t. And the assimetricos on the 348 are very old tech from way before their f1 adventure. Warm day, no problem, British day, shite.

Which tyres do you use on the FF, Athol? Are you wearing the PZeros out or did you switch to Pilots already?

Priced up the Michelins the other day actually. It has new p zeros on it which makes a dilemma and confuses my Scottishness!! It’s ok after about 5 miles although that’s probably because it’s four wheel drive. Given what I just spent on an exhaust and that the car is tucked up with little use planned right now, I’ll probably wait for a while.

Did you get "that" exhaust?

A similar dilemma with mine. The current PZeros have a good amount of life left in them, winter will see little use or storage (depending on what the weather gets up to) and dropping £1k on tyres I don't need seems unwise. Even for a not-Scotsman.

That simply is not true. All tyres are a compromise, wear against grip, against noise, wet weather etc. They are a very sticky tyre, that does not work well unless hot, but here in the UK it is not the ideal climate for them. I have Michelins and Continentals on the other cars and in truth under normal driving there is not much if anything between all of them. Your blanket statement would have them lumped in with Nexens etc.

As you know, this is what I did with the Strad...burn the ones on there and then replace with Michies

The PS4s do get superb reviews, but my £900 investment will have to wait until I've shaved a few more mil off the PZeros.

The simple fact is that on warm, dry, smooth roads Pirelli P Zeros are unbeatable.

However, it is also fact that 99.9% of the time you do not drive on warm, dry, smooth roads. Therefore anything other than that, and P Zeros are for 'wanting' (being polite here).
When I put Michelin Pilot Supersports on my GTS it transformed the car, and gave me so much more confidence it was like a different car. For the better.

My PZeros spin up in the dry even when tyre temperatures are well up into the 20-30 degree range. It's easy to get some slide-slip in the dry if you boot it a bit hard. When the tyres and the roads are cold and wet it's a light right foot that'll keep you pointing forwards. :)

Apparently the PS4s leave the Supersports for dead.

Voicey rates SS's so I went for them.

At the time I couldn't find a PS4's all round for the GTS so went with SS's

I'm afraid the experience I have had with P Zero's is awful. The only time I rated them was on a track at track temps. and that is THE one and only time they had any grip. I've driven on warm summer days at 25-30 deg. and they're still shyte in my opinion. Fitting Pilot Super Sports transformed the Strad.
Just my opinion.

Yes, I've heard that finding PS4s for both ends of the GTS is an issue. I can get them for the Vantage, but it takes some Internetting to find 'em. Still, until the current boots wear thin I'll poke up with the Pirellis.

+1 for SS's.

I've got PS4's on the Alfa GT and had them on the E55K and rate them as well. Just a bit cheaper and more all round for a daily. Keep the SS for a special 3rd car.....unless you have money pouring out of all orrifices.

On Ryan’s run this year, I left a Pirelli-shod 650S for dead in my 335D. Even when they got up to 30* he couldn’t stay with me. PZeros have a small ‘window of opportunity’ and the further they are away from that window, the worse they get. TBH, I’d rather have Nexans than PZeros in this country.
