What pressures do you guys run in the rear tyres? The handbook seems to indicate that if you have Pirelli tyres, they should be run 0.2 bar lower than all other tyres that should be at 2.2 bar. Have I understood this correctly and if so does anyone know why?

The Pirelli's have a very stiff sidewall which when placed under too much load (high tyre pressure) can blow out. I know first hand, it did it to me on the M6. I suspect this is why they recommend slightly lower pressures.

I should add that the 2.0 only applies to the rear tyres according to the handbook

I've never noticed that but it seems strange given that Pirelli is the ony tyre that Maserati fit to these vehicles.

Bigbob, is there a difference in the MCShift and Auto handbooks as I think I have read mine correctly?

No reference to this in my handbook and I run all 4 Pirelli's at 2.2, as per the guidance.

Here you go. I'm referring to the + note against the 20 inch rear wheel pressure

Don't understand - mine does not say that.

Mine is a 60 plate car so maybe updated for your car or difference for Auto as my book is definitely MCShift only? Thanks for looking into this bigbob and would really like others to chime in with the guidance from their cars books.

Cheers

I have a 2013 GT Sport Auto and the handbook say 2.2 bar all round. No mention of anything else.

I think you are :?the asterisk denotes winters are 19" and run at 2.2.

I'll see what my book says shortly.

yes but the warning sign re winter tyres says "alternatively you may use WTs having the same dimension.........." ???
