Tyre depth

Can anyone give a view on how low you should go with tyre tread depth. I am down to about 3mm on the rear. A little surprising given that the car has only covered a little over 14k Miles, and I’m far from a fast driver!
I think 2 - 2.5mm I should definitely change, but what’s the view on letting it go that low.
Comments appreciated...

Most only get 5/6k out of the rears! Mine are now very near the limit, but to be honest they still grip ok, but I do get more wheel spin on take off on the less smooth tarmac.

I've done 15k in mine, P-Zeros....

Below 1.6 is illegal
Wear markers are set at 2mm usually.
Below 3 mm you'll notice a reduction in grip in anything but good weather.

Personally, in summer I'm happy to go down to the markers, but am very aware of any standing water or heavy rain.

In winter, I'd change them around 3mm, but where I live the roads can be quite muddy and greasy, and I don't particularly drive slow.

It all depends on how you drive, and your view on risk if you hit some standing water.

If you are running Pirelli, then I would change now, as they are awful in the winter. Put on some Michelin pilot sport 4S on, and drive it like you stole it.

I ran the Michelins down to 2mm on my 4200 but only being driven in the summer when nice and warm.
My Michelin Pilot Supersports on my M140i are down to 3mm on the back of my M140i and now offer very little grip under power. Probably more to do with poor cold weather performance too.

To be honest they usually scrub the inside edge long before they get to the wear bars on Maseratis unless you have had the geo done properly.

If you haven't replaced them yet since you got it it's not exactly a big expense
Oponeo I always find are the cheapest.
