I love the idea of the bucket seats, but I think I could be able to do without them.

As far as I'm aware the 2013 facelift was just a change in the bonnet, discontinued the seats, added day-time running lights and added 10bhp more?

Do think prices will Matt with the country looking down the barrel of a recession. I would have thought the next few years selling big engine cars is going to get harder and there could be some bargains coming up over the next year or so until we see light at the end of the tunnel. Prices have already started to drop with some marques. 2 seater may be a good bet due to its rarity but wouldn’t have thought it will be going up in value any time soon until this **** storm is over. Anyone buying older big engine cars could do well to hold in until next year maybe.

I think the recession and rising interest rates will 100% hit car values.

However, I don't think the size of the engine will have much of an impact as the running costs of the Maser are so high that anyone who is concerned about fuel prices won't be in the market for one. Especially with the likes of £18k to replace discs and pads.

I do think Stradales will be a safe place for your money though, I have a feeling that people will get bored by the modern day cars with DCT gearboxes and start to look to cars like the Strad realising that the gearbox was actually more engaging.

Rather like the Stock Market the price of desirable cars will go up and down - The thing to look for is not the purchase price, but the cost of ownership.

Yes, you may lose £5k like Matt has indicated, but a similar performance level MB will have depreciated ten times that, conversely a Ferrari may have appreciated.

If you only keep your cars short term and buy from a dealer, then it will cost you each time you change.

Never view a car you buy as an investment. One of mine has appreciated (the 4C) but that was a happy accident.

As an offset to the recession, inflation is pushing up new car prices (e.g. a new M3 Touring with a few options is touching £100k these days!) which puts upward pressure on used car prices. A Strad is never a good investment but there are much worse places to put your money and, as the ultimate V8 Maserati GranTurismo, it will always be sought after.

Some of us saying V8’s are hard to sell, they aren’t, just bad ones are. The market is buoyant as prices have fallen greatly. GT Sports are at least £10k cheaper than they were last year (if advertised at a competitive price) and now represent great vfm again. Stradales have always been great value, they’re still a great car for the money at £50k-£70k, but this shows what amazing value they were at the same price point 5 years ago.

GT does sound great value especially that face lift you have for sale Dicky. Fully understand your view as well Dicky as you will never have issues shifting stock as it’s the best out there and you have a great reputation. It’s the others out there that may have issues who don’t really know the cars and pitfalls. Plenty unsold cars out there that have been for sale for months and more in some cases.

Yes absolutely the case, they’re just overpriced cars. They all sell at the correct price, even a bad one.

All the 2 seat Strads (which were built for just one year, 2011) had bucket seats as standard. Then, when the 4 seat Strad was launched, it came with the more normal GT comfy seats. There were never any seat options as such on either version.

Good idea. And with winter fast upon us, tax hikes, etc, I’m sure they’ll be keen to sell it. Fingers crossed you can keep your cool, negotiate hard over a few days and then pick up a ******* at an advantageous price.
Given it had an expensive main dealer service a year ago, has done virtually no miles since, and will come with a new MOT and a warranty, you can’t really go far wrong.
If it were me, and I liked it on viewing, I’d buy it and then arrange an immediate post-purchase-inspection with Matt. In the unlikely event that anything needed doing, it would be covered by the dealer or the warranty (or, in the very worst case) be returned for a full refund. So I’d view it as a risk-free purchase.
