Trolley Jack

Thought I'd post this up in case anyone else is looking for the same.....

I've been looking for a new trolley jack for a while with a specific list of requirements:
  • decent lifting capacity (my Bentley is no lightweight, despite being the 'stripped out' version!)
  • low-entry
  • quick-lift
  • quiet wheels
  • rubber saddle pad
I've just bought one which satisfies all of the above (not as easy as you may think) with the added benefits of a foot pedal and large loop handle. It's also 20% off currently:

I have bought a few tools from Halfords over the years and have always found them to be decent quality.

SGS engineering is where my 2 come from. Never lifted my GT with one but have used the low profile one to get under sports cars without issue.

I’ve got one & for the money it can’t be faulted other than I bought a more robust rubber insert that sits proud of the lifting cup as the one on the jack is pants:rolleyes:

Looks good and it's available over here too - might be worth picking one up with the SZ due back soon

looks okay - wonder what the weight of unit is? I have two like this where one is low entry. BOTH have noisy steel wheels.
I bought 1.5 tonne "race jack" that can be carried one handed (not too far mind). Much easier to load in the boot of MX5 for trackways. It does easily lift any corner. of my QP too. Like this

Not sure that would clear an GTS with handling pack. I need one too

75mm is the lowest height I’ve found for a jack with these features, most others are a taller.

I looked at the SGS jacks. They look really good, but don’t have all of the features I wanted in one jack.

Do you have a link to what you replaced it with please?

34kg Rob. It’s a lump, but I don’t need to transport it anywhere. I wanted ‘quiet’ wheels as the other big jack I have makes a huge racket on anything other than a perfectly smooth surface.

I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I drag big jack across concrete it sets my teeth on edge.

I use cut down flip flops. :D
Have seen "Tesla pads" advertised but uncertain these are for lifting a car or adult diapers.
If you have a Tesla you don't need adult diapers because you have the opportunity to stop for an hour every 200 miles to wait for a charger to come free.

I use hockey pucks, by the way. I've carved them out a little so they fit nicely into the jackpoint. Once in the air I use http://www.jackpointjackstands.com/, which are bloody brilliant.

When I had my new concrete floor put down my only añal request was that it had to be as smooth as Watties head so no noise moving anything with wheels.

and a further 10% off for AA members as well, all helps on the bottom line

'Mark', 'not Mark', 'Jack', and stretching the imagination somewhat we even end up with Hal Ford(s). Hours of fun for a miserable wet Saturday :)
