For 103k though Matt...….That's a lot of pennies for a Ghibli...Great they have made it though......Hang on a few years though and used ones will be very tempting.

An M5 lists at £95980 and a Mercedes E63s AMG is £98370 so in reality, it's similar to it's competitors. Of course, nobody pays the full list anyway so expect it to be discounted in line with the Germans. Therefore, it's priced the same as its competitors in the real world. For many, it will come down to whether they manage to get a nice pcp/lease deal in place, like BMW do with all M cars. If you can get one for £5k down and £999 a month then they will sell. If not, and they rely on buyers to choose with their heart and pay more than a competitor offers, then they will sell only tiny numbers.

And yes, in 3 or 4 years they will be sub 40k and likely a bargain.

I mean, you spec a 580bhp Maserati and then want to blend in with yet another silver or black.. yawn....lets be honest, the exhaust note isn’t subtle so way not go the whole hog? lol.
I’ll watch I don’t slip getting off this soap box..

Performance wise, the QP T is not really any different from a, say 4 year old, QP VI GTS. Which is a little disappointing. So the only “new” bit of news is that they’ve finally fitted its twin turbo V8 into the Ghibli. Which is still good news in itself though. Just a shame it‘s so much slower than the V6 Alfa.

Tbh, I can’t believe a 580bhp car can only get to 60 in 4.5 seconds. What do they build them from, collapsed stars?

Maybe, maybe not, if they turn out to be very rare, which is very likely of course!
You can get 4 year old M5/E63’s for 30k though, never mind 40k, so hardly a safe place to put your cash!

The Novitec tune which is 600hp gets 0-100 (0-62) to 4.4 secs. So not surprised with the trofeo as the rwd has difficulty putting the power down initially on these cars. 0-60mph is more like 4 secs with the Novitec. 0-200 km/hr is where the performance excels.

When I see 100k though I just don't think Ghibli even with that engine......I think Stradale......Now that does look like a 100k car.......QP with a V8 yes I think 100k....Suppose also BMW M and AMG are established performance brands where as Trofeo is Maseratis answer and new on the block so I think it would have been prudent to price them just below the competition. But hey I hope they sell well as its a great car for the brand.

I dont think that price is too bad. It depends on what kit it comes with. To put it in perspective my "new" Gransport diesel with all the bells and whistles that this Trofeo seems to have as standard (thinking especially pricey options like Skyhook, LEDs all round, carbon etc..) was listed at around £78k.

This is exactly what the Ghibli should have been at launch- I’m really excited about it and the direction that the brand has taken- but did Maserati taint the car’s image with the original versions?

So - I had a look a that - the GTS does 0 - 62 in 4.7sec and has 530hp, the Trofeo version does 0-62 in 4.5secs and 580hp.......the more important question is whether it will be available in the UK again..

The real question is how come the Levante is the fastest of all of the Trofeo cars at 0-62 in 4.1secs.........that will be power of AWD but jeez.....that thing is quick

Because it has 4WD, so can get the power down well off the line.

Baffles me why Maserati didn’t put AWD and more power into the same model for the Trofeo. Imagine the road feel of a 580bhp AWD sedan!

AWD Ghibli S is available in LHD but not RHD.
Maybe a packaging issue for RHD cars, and also the V8 both for LHD and RHD.

They all look nice... but rose tinted glasses off is this not a bit late in the day?

The Ghibli is some six/seven years old and apart from a light refresh looks the same as it did back in 2014.

With the drive towards efficiency and saving the environment along with a pretty week brand line up at the moment, the Trophy cars will be a very rare sight, even more so here in the UK.

The last car made by Maserati that I lusted for was the 2008 GT. Here we are some 12 years later all they have to offer are some old 4 door saloons with a tasty engine... have we not seen this all before.

I will get my coat now...

I don’t see the latest video as the launch of an exciting new lineup of performance cars, but more as re-launch of Maserati as a performance brand without the nonsense of competing in an established diesel market. If they get the MC20 right and it comes in as a true halo car they will have a decent range with something for everyone. I can’t get too wound up about analysing performance figures to the n’th degree; I’m just happy to know that there’s a fair bit of clout when I hit the loud pedal and I’m sure that many folk are of the same mind; if you want bragging rights there’s plenty of other options – most of which will outstrip average driver abilities anyway.

However, FCA need to be realistic about their relationships with Maserati dealers, and they must ensure that customer support reflects a quality product; there’s no point in screwing the dealers if they can’t make a buck, and if everyone from Kia to Ferrari can give decent warranty/service packages then so should Maserati.

A new Trofeo race series, flagship dealer events (Covid permitting), footballers’ bums on the driving seats, and general brand promotion could see a resurgence as never before. If FCA can’t be ar*sed, then even more Maserati dealers will abandon the brand and the writing and wall will combine pretty quickly. Thus far I'm hopeful......

Just mho.

Yet a rwd Portofino can get to 60 in 3.6 with similar power. Ferrari don’t seem to have any problem putting the power down.

Spot on. These cars cost far too much to maintain. There is also the nagging feeling that shared dealers are screwing Maserati owners for as much as they can to make up for the lack of money they get from Ferrari on the service inclusive list prices.

Maserati is really struggling and I don’t see a way out. Ditto for Alfa but from a slightly different perspective.
