Trapped water

I have the same problem as the original poster (without the dash warnings though - thankfully!).

Definite sloshing front and back, and not in the door. Also on passenger side, and by the sound of it there is a lot of water! It usually takes two or three weeks of good weather for it to eventually drain away. I have never been able to work out where I could 'relieve' it from.

Don't know if it is related (but I suspect it is, given it is also on the passenger side) I get water build up in the petrol filler cap recess behind the flap. The drain hole there doesn't seem to flow, despite having tried to unblock with wire. I always have to mop out the excess water in there with a towel after washing the car, or heavy rain.

PS I no longer get water build up in the boot, as I have had a drain hole and grommet fitted at the bottom!

Like the original poster, any help greatly appreciated.

I've been down as far as the plastic tray under the battery and all dry in there. There has been water in there before but not this time!

Yes i think that's where the problem lies and the fact it hasn't stopped raining for 2 weeks.

Unfortunately my optimism about the dash lights being battery related seems to have been misplaced. Changing the battery didn't make any difference so I suspect the water has made its way into the passenger footwell and probably the suspension ecu :0036:

Just thought I'd update this for anyone who was interested...

The water was in the sill and it was a blocked drain under the windscreen that was the culprit. Damp had got to the electrics and caused some faults but the garage cleared them with no lasting damage apparent.

Turns out the abs/msp lights were a failed abs sensor which seems to be a bit of a theme on here recently!

Anyway all's well that ends well. Just waiting to get the car back from the garage as I'm getting the calipers refurbed while it's in.

Roll on spring:p

Good to hear you are sorted.
Any chance of a photo of how to unblock the windscreen drain?

(I struggled to understand the link/solution posted earlier by others)

A bump for this as the left-hand scuttle area on my QPV is like a little lake, and presumably I need to clear the drains. Is there any guidance on how to do this?

I know you can do passenger side without removing anything as I did mine last week (you can reach your hand in & feel if it’s full of crud then just kept squeezing it until it was clear) drivers side was done whilst stripped down for cam gasket replacement.

So grub around in here somewhere?????

That’s for the 4200 it happened to mine when I had one. On the Quattroporte it looks like a large rubber ducks bill & hangs down directly beneath windscreen scuttle. Not in footwell as on 4200.

Yes, sorry, don't know how I got the wrong diagram (actually a Levante!) This is the QP:

Item 20/21 the bottom is sealed in the middle so might be more difficult to manipulate whilst contents are wet. I did mine on a dry day so it all came out as a load crunched up leaves & I just hoovered it up.
