Hello,

I have got a Levante in our workshop with the gearbox issue,
Simply it does not drive not on D nor R and it does not read any faults I do not really know where to start, the only thing I have done so far I have checked the oil level and it seems to be ok,

Any help is very much appreciated,

Kind Regards,

Milan

Hi Milan and glad you managed to sort you post.

This is a bit specialised and we don't do much Levante as they are quite new but maybe if you can tell us what gearbox is in the car, it may be in another model (ZF 9 Speed?) and someone may be able to help.

I would have thought as it is so new, it should go back to the main dealer as it will be under Main Dealer warranty.

Hi, check the car registers the driver's seat belt is buckled. Discovered mine won't budge without the belt done up when I was rearranging the driveway last week!

We have checked everything and it looks ok,

I have drained the gearbox oil and managed to drain about half of it,
I am just wondering if the is a way to get rest of it somehow out,I mean oil in torque convertor, cooler, pipes,

Regards,

Milan

I doubt I will do a road trip around there... at least one without home recovery.

Rather shocking at the lack of training and technical assistance for a MD.

The only way to drain a torque converter is if it has a drain plug on it or by removing from the car. Can’t recall coming across a ZF one with a drain. Lines can usually be drained at the cooler. Should tell you this in the factory manual.

Hi is it not under warranty? If so then surely Maserati will just authorise a new gearbox?

The ZF boxes in Mercedes Sprinters with the V6 diesels have 6mm Allen key plug in the torque converter.
Did a few transmission services in NZ.
Never did one at Maserati but all the info will be on the factory computer system and as a technician for the Dealership I had full access to all of that.

Wonder if that’s a Mercedes thing? The Merc 7-G Tronic has a drain in the TQ and regular oil changes unlike a lot of the ZFs in BMWs that are “sealed for life”.

Did the Sprinter use Merc ATF or ZF Lifeguard?
