Track day - picture **** and requests for your experience

Enjoyed the last track day of the here up in the Pac NW of the US, at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA. Twisty track of 16 turns with huge elevation change - my first time at the track, so the goal was to at least get consistent by the end of the day. Times were consistent overall, but there's still much to master before trying to speed up further.
The car handled the challenges of the track beautifully, and sounded glorious (X-pipe, sport cats). FD sway bars and spacers have improved the cornering significantly. Riding on Continental Extreme Contact tires and EBC Blue Stuff brake pads - the braking was outstanding... until it wasn't. Had one harrowing meeting with a high speed approach to a hairpin turn with completely faded brakes. Made it out with everything but my pride intact. Apparently, that was the bed-in step it needed, as the brakes behaved after that.
Suspension - For those who have pushed these beasts to the limits of cornering - what else is reasonable to do? Will coilovers or FD springs make any significant difference, or is this the reasonable limit of what to expect?
Brakes - similarly. I saw a thread where it was mentioned that @Zep is working on improved brakes for the GS (and I assume other 4200s by extension). Happy to join in if there's a group purchase coming up, or to hear what other options people have had success with.
Tires - The Continentals have served me well, but on track days they suffer extremely uneven wear. Has anyone played with track setups for increased camber to improve tread engagement? I'm using factory alignment settings at present.

Look like fun. I have had my car on the track a few times and always enjoyed it. I do not think these cars are particularly good track cars however, and by the time they work well on the track you have more or less ruined them. I had a heavily modified TVR chimeara which had been upgraded to make it work well on the track and it was funny enough brilliant on any track had it on the Nurburgring twice and it was a hoot. Not a great car to travel with though, suspension too low and too hard, and really too much power (340hp in a 900kg car) it would spin the back wheels without hesitation even it relatively high speed. I sold it and got the 3200 instead, which is much more civilised, and will remain so!

That TVR, love it! I agree, of course, that the 4200 will never be a champion on the track, but I enjoy pushing the limits of what it can do without gutting the car or making ruinous modifications. It is, after all, my daily driver.
If I had the wallet and garage space, I’d have a dedicated track car. Instead… a little tinkering will have to do.

Looks like you had fun. Track days are a great way to explore you car and your own limits safely. Love them and had lots of fun organising and doing them especially with this lot on here. The thing is with a track day is that it doesn’t matter what you drive it’s all about enjoying yourself no matter what car you own. As long as go with a company that know what they are doing as if there are idiots there they will not be on track long before being black flagged....Some Pictures of some I have done seen as though we are sharing.

It was great fun Phil and we had a laugh....usually at your exspensive with some dramatic spins. Wouldn't have been the same without you having a moment. It's been ages since we have done one

I actually got black flagged for going too fast in the red E36 M3 I took over there.
Great forum times indeed.
Nick always managed to get good pictures too.
Don't see much of him these days and his Alfa's.

I do envy the closer knit community and relative proximity of members of SM. A SM track day in the states would require 1000 mile drives by all involved!
My 04 Coupe is the first and only car I’ve tracked - it’s reassuring to see I’m in good company taking it out for a flogging, vice polishing a garage queen.

You can't do a 1000 miles in the UK without getting wet.

What's the logo at the bottom left of your posts? Is it a trident or a woman doing the splits??!!
