Not really my area this , but ive attended a couple organised by Malc on the darkside, my GS is shortly due to have its brake upgrade and a new clutch and a few other tweaks , so im game for a track day , looking to see what interest we can spark on here whether we could muster around 20 to arrange a purely Masser track day or if we go for 10 we can share with another club etc

please give any track preference

Truth be known Loz.........{{{coughs nervously into hankie.....in case any members of the constabluary are members......}}}...most days over here are track-dayesque.......if such a word exists...;)....if you can understand what I am getting at......but only in the very safest way......

Hi Loz,

I'd definitely be up for this, although it'd be my first time, so I'd be taking it easy. Pranging anything on the car could be just tooo costly!

Being in Luffbro I'd suggest the central circuits, Silverstone, Rockingham, Mallory or Donington. Not sure what's happening at Donington at the moment though?

Cheers, Miles.

All depends on what you want to pay...places like Silverstone/Donnington etc will cost a fortune to get a club only track day plus now that the track day season is underway most are booked up.....Malc, picked off season to make it cheaper which worked out around £200 for Goodwood and £90 Landow in Cardiff....Peak season I would imagine with 20 cars at Goodwood will be £300 plus...maybe even £450

Hi Andy, It's all new to me so I'm happy to be guided by those more knowledgeable. Would need to think carefully about £300+ though! Llandow's definitely doable distance-wise, as is Castle Combe. How do these stack up? Cheers, Miles.

Llandow is cheap and small. It's really more suitable for Lotus Elise but don't let that put you off as anyone who went last year in their Maserati had a great time.....and as I said before, bloody cheap. I looked into Combe a year or so ago and that would be around the same as Goodwood...but its a great track and would suit the Maserati. I am more than willing to look into this if there is enough interest.

Of course Loz......Lets see who would be interested as far as numbers...def need 20 to keep cost down. I you struggle for 20 Maseratis then as with other track days organised by Malc on the dark side I have enough Lotus guys that could fill some places.

Llandow was a good day, but it is very tight so budget for at least a NSF tyre and poss rear too due to the tight chicane...what about a trip to the Isle of Man.

Unlike the UK there is no national speed limit. There are speed restrictions in built up areas, but after passing a 'National Speed Limit' sign there ceases to be any speed restriction...Sweet

I have never done a track day, but may be keen for a little go if it were not too costly.

Although being first one and not wanting to prang my new pride and joy I would be driving like Miss Daisy.

Anglesey circuit has been extended and improved over the last year or so.

And it has some of the best views of any circuit I have seen, amazing with Snowdonia in the background.

Check out some piccies here

All the Maserati trackdays ive done have always been very sedate and air on the side of caution, its really about getting to know your car with the emphasis on enjoying yourself and that means NOT putting yourself under any pressure to perform/compete or drive outside of your limits , we usually limit around 6 cars on the track at anyone time, for about 6 laps so plenty of room around the track to get spaced apart , with a twenty minute break which helps the brakes to cool off. it really is a fun and relaxing day , plenty of time to chat and reflect on techniques before your next outing , Helmets are a must some circuits hire them some you will have to bring your own looking forward now to fixing something up .

Like the sound of the I of M. Not so sure about the proximity of walls and ditches to the road though?

Just want to reiterate Lozs comments...it is about getting to know your car and your limits....its very safe as long as you listen to the brief at the beginning and obey the rules which on everyone I've done it every one has done and lots of fun was had by all....It is not about who is fastest but about having fun at your own pace. Any body acting irresponsibly get black flagged and your off.
