I have what I think is a custom exhaust that is really nice. You can hear the engine all the time but fairly subdued, not excessively loud but it still sounds very special at any speed. And when you step on it, it Roars just right. I thought to myself, I'd almost like it to be louder, but was assured by people whom I drop off, that Yes the roar is quite fierce sounding as I drive away, not obnoxious, but definitely high performance and not a cheap sound by any means. I had the car on a lift to change the oil, and took a few pictures so I'll share with you all. The welding looks very nice. I think the exhaust sound is perfect for the car. I have cars that are quite a bit faster than the 4200 coupe, but the Mase has so much personality.

I might go for an X pipe. Any point in going for Larini or Tubi or is it largely standard exhaust work? Reason I ask is cos I normally use this guy in Leeds and does ace quality boxes and pipe work, surely it’s stainless pipes well welded from where ever you get them?

I agree as far as the X pipe is concerned (it’s an X pipe) I bought mine from Benny and is spot on. It’s only the back boxes that are Larini, those are what make the real difference.

I think it depends on the car.

The impact of an X on a GTS is different to that on a Coupe.

Step 1 - Install X Pipe
Step 2 - Turn off radio
Step 3 - Open window
Step 4 - find a long tunnel
Step 5 - Wonder what took you so long!

Larini X pipe 409 pounds plus VAT.
Autoshield X pipe 260 pounds plus VAT.

As it's been pointed out, it's quite simple pipework. Think I will save a few quid and go for the Autoshield one.
