To Strad or not to Strad....

Redline were good with the test. Despite the weather off you go (without them) and we did in the snow until we put into race mode and my limited driving skills became quite exposed in the wet - my Brera would've overtaken me and had time for coffee before I got back to the dealer who is even replacing the MC Stradale badge which is I thought I being picky about.

The GS is likely to be going to Richard G and I'll be gutted to see it go as I'm convinced I'll want one again but I'm starting to put money into the Alfa 75 restoration now and want to see it through.

I may have missed something but is it the Redline car you have bought?

Lovely looking car, congratulations. If I had a 2 seater I would so want the roll cage and race harnesses in there.

Thanks for all the messages.

Really enjoying the car and have been taking it across North Yorkshire every weekend since getting it. It has caught me out several times mainly on take off and the brakes are still something I'm getting used to as is the overall size of the car.

JCT Brooklands have quoted me £2K plus VAT for the roll cage and the harness. This is close to the original option list price. I have seen other notes that this is waste of time and money given the rise in recent power output of hot hatches etc. Has anyone had one fitted and wonder whether the experience has been positive or something you have grown to regret. Given the way I hang onto vehicles - I cannot see me parting with it so on sales are not too much of an issue.

Know a few members here have been talking about buying a Stradale so if anyone wants to look at one close up (without sales pressure) always happy to let people see it in North Leeds at weekends when I'm back at home.

Glad you are enjoying it, and you got it for the money they laughed at me offering.
Why not bring it to the ITCAR event 3rd June.

2k + VAT sounds like an excellent price, assuming of course that they are quoting OEM parts and fitting?

Sounds like a decent price to me as well. Can't see a half cage in any car being supplied & fitted for that much less.

Congrats Malcolm - another Strad to the growing pack. The car will continue to reward, and as I approach a year of ownership and 5k miles, no regrets at all. Every drive a major occasion :)

The cage will cost double that once you add in all the various fitments, bolts and such like. It's made to order and nobody can confirm a lead time to me so if you can get that out of them, I'd have one too.

Price and mileage for a 4 seater, thats now the same price as the 2 seaters, so a very good buy.

We might see the 2 seaters start to appear above that of the 4 seaters.

Thanks and (you are right) its getting more complex to work out exactly what is in the kit ! Trying to find out now. Will try and resolve it either way and let you know.

Thanks for the comments... I'm considering it. I prefer the versatility of the 4 seats as only have one other car at the moment.

The clutch was replaced at 16k during the service in 2016. Is that usual? I imagine it was used for spirited driving?

Crikey clutch life a little short in both time & miles....more likely it broke than wore out I would suggest. Unless it was adjusted badly or driven badly allowing lots of slip.
