Hi guys - New member, picking up my MC Shift hopefully today or early next week. I've been searching and most say drive it in sport always, don't reverse up hill (if possible). Just wanted to know if anything else i should be thinking of? the clutch has 7% wear so relatively new still so ideally want to maintain best i can.

When coming up to red lights one person i spoke with said put it in neutral and brake, don't change down or let it change down?
When putting into reverse is this best done by selecting neutral 1st?
Best not to change gear to early?

Thanks in advance and when i do pick it up will get some photos up for a proper hi :) Managed to get Dale to do a PPI on this car so feeling confident on what i am getting myself into and not a lemon.

Drive it like you have stolen it mate, put any future clutch replacment fears at the back of you mind, but prepare a budget fund for said contingency , why ruin a perfect experience , its like discussing a pre nup before you have even met the girl

Not an GT, but a GS and prior to that 2 4200s. I got an aveage of 1,000 miles per 1% clutch wear, this without any 'methods' to save the clutch.

I believe all the 'issues' re the clutch wearing prematurely were down to poor knowledge and people thinking they should drive as smoothly in auto as a torque converter model.

If you are worried about the wear levels you are not enjoying the car as it was designed as said above... its only a couple of £k anyway and most people spend more on silly coffee over the years.

Took the words out my mouth. They last 35/40k miles.

Ahh ok so just go with it then...sounds good. Just wondered if i needed to do anything specific to help the matter really. I had an SMG M6 V10 previously so thinking its kind of the same approach. I found the AMG as much as a nice sound not very engaging so defo looking forward to the MC Shift. Thanks guys.

One thing you may experience is jerking when you first start and pull away, especially in reverse which is disconcerting and may well out extra strain on the clutch, either way it’s worth avoiding if you can and the top below was shared with me hwbebI first got me GTS.
When starting turn ignition on but do not crank the engine, wait for the lights on the dash to go out (well most of them anyway) then start the car and off you go.
I found it make a massive difference.
Enjoy !

Do not crank? Whats this life hack lol! I actually found that mine has learned how I drive and is less jerky. Lifting off throttle when shifting gears works a treat too.

This tip is only when starting the car and can avoid a jerky initial pull away which some / most people seem to experience.

Just had the clutch changed. Basically, was advised don’t try for 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, especially when new, but this is what shortens the life. By god, 50-100, floor it. That’s really what these cars are about. Not boy racers in town, but cross countries as if there isn’t any other traffic on the road.
