Can't believe how hard a sell this has been, despite what we think Auto 3200s just don't get buyers interested

I do love the 3200! Sometimes I wish I had jumped in the deep end with that instead of the 4200 - turbo charged V8, boomerang rear lights and some aggressive grills on the bonnet.

My brother just sold his 1999 auto 3200 with 73k miles for 11.5k so I think your 13k valuation is about right to me.

The school of thought that the buyer dictates market holds true unfortunately but these cars should be worth more than a 3 year old golf or focus. I fear that some on here have played a massive part in running these cars down for reliability to the general public, jeez, if Maserati fans run the car down, what chance do they have?. Yes, they were released with failings but these have been resolved so time to start talking these sorted cars up so they reach the value they deserve. Fwiw, I think phils car underpriced.

The old Masers are all undervalued.. sure there's a few problems but there not insurmountable...

I hate this magazine style so called Maserati 3200/4200 "value for money" Supercar boll*x ...There really great cars and can stand on there own merits!

Can't beat an Old School Drive and the older we get the more we want it especially myself.
I have been working in the Automotive industry since a boy for 40 years and I really find I don't get excited by the new stuff.
Yes they are fast but pretty well everything is now.
Drive something old fast and you will see what real driving is.
My old XJC 3 speed auto is exciting to drive quickly and puts a grin on your face.

Tend to agree, in the (almost) 5 yeas I have had mine, its been a pleasure and been pretty faultless (kiss of death). As said they were probably released with a few too many faults and then relied (in the main) on a dealer network that may have been more interested / experienced with another manufacturer.

I suspect most that are still on the road should provide good value be it the apparently "scary" well used or lower / end of the market right through to the top condition garage queens, which in some ways can be just as much of a reliability risk in my eyes.

I would also agree that certain supposed Maserati fans do not help, yes there are risks but do your research and go in with your eyes wide open and there is no reason why the 3200, or any Maserati should not give plenty of pleasure, on the other hand if you want a car that costs the same as a golf to run, drives like a golf etc etc - go buy a golf / BMW or what ever you want a car to perform like.

I liked the 3200 when it was released and I like it as much today, it may not be quite as refined or sorted as the 4200 and newer cars but I suspect it could be those very things that make it a bit more exciting to me. I do hope that values go up and reflect what a truely special car it is but I doubt it will make to much difference to me as on the whole, I dont sell my cars.

People should stop talking these cars down.

tbh, my opinion is the sorted 32 is a better car then the 42/GS not only, because of looks with the boomerangs and vents and lack of surfboards, but because of the twins bearing true Maserati heart giving you all the bhp in one lump when fixed. There is a thread on here about the 3500 and how 25 yeArs ago they where about worthless.......mark my words, I will not probably see it given my sedentary lifestyle, but the 32 will be a true Maserati icon in years to come.
