Thoughts on consolidating maybe 3 cars into 1?

I would like a 360.
If I told you what I sold mine for after offering it to the forum just serviced and belts done by Ferrari to compliment it's full MD service history and I was the second owner you would cringe as I do myself now.

Nice to think about, but at the moment no one is going to be buying anything and trade values have nearly halved.

There are those that see it as an opportunity , not in as much as something to make money , but rather realising a dream for bargain value, or in my case re-living that deam

There is always a market and deals possible to be done. Any loss of value is offset by reduced cost on a higher value car so it doesn't really make a difference.

I'm happy to keep what I have and if I can work a deal into something else 3 into 1 then I will do so.

As others have said sometimes opportunities create themselves that weren't possibly available before. I am always open minded and if anyone can find a deal I'll find it

Personally I would prefer to keep my three cars, all have different characteristics, and therefore all different to drive. I think it would be dull to only have one choice of a morning (though think of the vehicle tax I would save)

I do agree about the variety but I'm not sure if I've gone a little too far. I don't drive every day and have more choices than days in the week so variety is far from an issue

They are indeed all very different. Except maybe the two Pug GTi's that are quite similar.

Been mulling this one over for some time and not sure if consolidating maybe 3 cars into one better one might be a route to take. What are people's opinions?

If for example you had the option to swap out something like:
2007 Maserati 4200 CC
2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Manual
1995 TVR Chimaera 500

For something like this:

Or:
What a dilemma.
Running costs on 1 ought to be less than 3.....but then they are 3 very different and fun cars that you have there.
That Audi is lovely but as some have mentioned if that was the original gearbox- it’s awful.jerky....my Mrs nearly wore her coffee in the passenger seat.
Lovely Maser too.
Decisions, decisions, good luck.

If you do want and Audi R8, i have a friend who has an early (ish) manual one in silver with maybe 20k miles on that he’s for 10 years. He also has a Huracan and doesn’t use the r8 at all. I think you steal it if you wanted.

On the 3 or 1 cars thing, I’ve been thinking about dropping my daily Macan and using the FF for the coming months. I’d maybe buy a low value thing as well but i really don’t need a 35k daily, nice though it is. The FF is losing value in the current climate so i might as well enjoy it. If the apocalypse does come, i want to look my best.

I agree if the market drops it works across the board and in practice the difference is less.
The problem is you have to sell/trade three cars in order to buy the one. Doing that presently and in the near future might be a bit tricky.

Nigh on impossible I'd say , even WBAC offers are in the "we don't want it" price band, once BCA reopens I'd think apart from the public looking for a bargain they'd be pretty dead , maybe even full.of trade offloading cars because they haven't sold anything for 3 weeks - 3 months.

Oh and the red Centennial is very nice indeed, but what a lot of bollox from AM Newcastle 'the nicest Maserati we have in stock' - a strange enough thing to say at the best of times but even more idiotic when it is the ONLY Maserati you have in stock :)
Love that statement!!

How about this -

It’s a win:win

  1. A special piece of British engineering (who doesn’t want to own a rolls Royce at one point in their life.
  2. It has formula 1/ motorsport connections
  3. Well under budget - (it would count as a mystery buy if it was on a tv show)
  4. You would have unlimited revenue from it and would be tax deductible from your new little business venture. :(

of the two in original post, I like the red one more.
special car? neither for me. if the prices continue downwards I might be into my dream V12 either 456 or 550
if your dream car is the one you see in rear view mirror as you leave home, you've bought the wrong car.
saying that ill always have an mx5.

mid you can live w a higher mileage V12, top knicks 550s can be had for low 60’s and 456s manual in mid 40s... I suppose it could be a tad lower over the next 6-12months

I spent many years having only the option of one car and, no matter how special at the time, I switched regularly to find the perfect compromise that simply doesn't exist. Back in the 80s I was driving 30k miles pa for work and switched between a 205GTi and a Saab Turbo four times in succession, missing the virtues of whichever had been sold inside 6 months of changing! I owned a 993 for many years and loved getting out for Le Mans trips and special weekends but, when I ran it for 3 months as my daily, I grew to loath it! If the mythical 'petrol head' relative left me 100k in a will with instructions to spend it accordingly I would have to resist the temptation of the gorgeous Strad (not just because I already have one!) and instead buy 4 or 5 cars to satisfy the different driving pleasures; perhaps a GTS/GS. a Caterham, a RR V8, an SL and a QPV? The great thing from my perspective is that the best drivers cars were produced (or designed) in the 90/00s so depreciation makes this a great option. Currently deciding between a 90s SL500 or a 00s SL55.....
