Just completed a 1000 mile trip over 2 days to a place near Collioure. The QP GTS was faultless (a rare claim) but it had been fettled to within an inch of its life. Over the 2 days we didn’t see one other Maserati so they are still exclusive! Best car spot so far a Renault Alpine A310.

Our average speed was 80mph and we achieved 20.1mpg and this reallly is a world class GT. The wife prefers it to the FF we had - comfier seats and no need for a neck brace on acceleration. The FF power delivery is so brutal it makes for a much more tense passenger experience if you are not a car nut!

The apple car play gave us great sat nav, Spotify, Heart radio from Tunein and speed cam alerts via pro-Radarbot.

Always had looks as we arrived anywhere and even got an shocked oh la la when we started her up next to a lady on leaving a service station.

Couldn’t be arsed to have sports mode engaged on the autoroute but for the A roads and overtaking - even 3up and luggage- there was plenty of power for some fun.

It’s a black QP so it’s filthy so a wash will be in order and just 10 more sleeps till we do it again!

I like the A310...I imagine a facelift widebody, with the twin turbo V6 shoehorned into it. Or a Le Mans treated to the same sacriligious modification...!

I fear you are right - it looked and sounded like the former of those two!

We've just completed a 2,000 mile tour de France in ours. The car was, as I've come to expect, glorious and faultless. Averaged 22.4 mpg which I think was excellent for family, luggage, camping equipment, and 8 boxes of wine on the return.

I've said it before on here, everyone needs to take their Maseratis to France to experience French billiard table smooth roads at least once. With the tyre roar eliminated, you can really hear the fantastic music of these engines. Despite the heat wave, I turned off the air-conditioning several times and just listened to that sublime sound; changing gears for the **** of it.

Everywhere we went, people came up to me to talk about it. We're blasé about nice cars in London, there are a half dozen Levantes, Ghiblis and QPVs in my neighbourhood alone, but get over to France and it is a rare and well loved car.

We've had a great holiday and the magic of Maserati was a large part of it.

Really does sound like a great experience.

Done similar, and I agree. Worth buying a QP just to do it (although we did ours in a 4200, and I'm damned sure a GT would be equally awesome)

I recall driving home through the alps when Mrs Catman asked me why I was laughing. My answer: 'I'm driving through the alpine passes. In a Maserati, with the window down, the sun shining, the woman I love beside me and Matt Monroe playing. The only reason I wouldn't be laughing is if I was *dead*' :D

great trips, thanks for sharing, and I do agree these cars really do rise to a long road trip, because unlike most cars they are a major part of the journey. I am looking forward to my upcoming trip to Germany (and a few other places :))

Nice to see young men filming the car (in sports mode) as it went through a town today - and thankfully they weren’t subtle...Gotta Luv a Mas....saw a 488 yesterday but still haven’t seen another Mas yet - new or old!

These cars are made for road trips. Thanks for sharing and for the fond reminders of a superb >2k mile Eurotnrash through France, Italy, Switzerland, Gothard Pass, through Germany and the Autobahns, Netherlands and home. Four-up in a GTS. Phenomenal.

I enjoyed our drive through France in my C Class diesel so yours must have been epic. Enjoy the return trip.

One assumes these were 12 bottle boxes
Do tell what they were - always intriguing what others like to partake.

Nothing special. We were worried about the hot weather, we always try to bring home as much booze as possible but carrying wine in ±30°C temperatures, with hot exhausts cooking it too, is a recipe for ruined wine. Luckily the weather turned cool as we were due to leave so we rushed into Carrefour and grabbed a load of medium priced Médocs, Haut-Médocs, Costieres de Nîmes and some Saumur Champigny. There are a few cans of Confit de Canard there too :) All the camping stuff is below the camping table.

You can never have too much confit! We usually keep a couple in stock but .... wow :)
A nice selection of vin rouge - far more civilised than a recent boot of mine.
