Here we go again...

Cat D, wrong used headlights fitted, cheap Chinese aftermarket bonnet fitted.

If they skimped on the item you can see, what did they skimp on underneath.

3 years ago, it was up for £50k and hung around for nearly a year.

Had the plate MAMA or something on it and the full decal kit.

Hehehehehe...this thread is identical.

If it had 4 seats I would buy it and wrap it and accept its flaws. I can see how it wouldn’t appeal to purists

That's the problem though isn't it? It's already been wrapped (round a lamp post).

Assuming it drives straight, by the time you have done what is needed to get it to a decent standard (not necessarily Conaero's standard) would it still be cheap?

Well it's a different question. What's good *enough*. As Iain says, if it drives straight, stops and starts....

Each to their own.

In a straight line. Imagine going into a corner at speed and not coming out of the other side! Let’s face it a car with a bent chassis will more than likely have real handling issues which could bite at any time. I’d avoid like the plague and a Maser is a hard sell at the best of times but a CAT car????? Ffs no!

Oh agreed, if the chassis is bent, there's gonna be problems. But what if it's not? I recall that episode of Fast n Loud..... Lots of bits were not quite in the right place but the wheels (allegedly) were.....

I'm not an expert on these Maserati motors, but what I do know is that a cat D (panel damage) car should be at least 25% less than the actual pre damage value and a tad more for these type of as you say "hard sell" cars, so, is it priced right??

The problem with this car that you can see has very much annoyed me is that I have done a few Cat D's over the years and I spend the time to put everything back to how it should be so you would not be able to tell if anything had happened to it. I then sell them and constantly am barraged by questions from nervous perspective buyers.

They come see the car and their fears are gone and they leave happy chaps.

You then see this abomination Strad and it is like a knife in the back to what I have tried to achieve and only fuels the concerns of perspective CAT buyers.

It should be mandatory for any CAT car to be inspected by VOSA or the likes before it can be resold and then graded CAT S-1, CAT S-2...etc.

There has always been a market for repairing Cat cars, some better than others. At least now they have to be reported so buyers should be prepared to look that bit harder.

If a Strad is 60k then at 45k this bob on the 25% less valuation and for someone the compromises maybe worth it.

Have got Krishnas 2008 GTS at the moment, I note that he has the passenger airbag cover on his dash, so the car in question simply has the wrong dash top on it from the wrong model as some do have this outline. The Strad one does not and is flat.
