This has a USA based perspective....but.....what do you think?

Hmmm, I don't think the "truths" are written by an expert. For example, the one that says that you do not need to let your car warm up before driving it.
My GT is almost undrivable at slow speeds until it's warmed up and off the choke and probably doesn't do the gear box and clutch any good continuously engaging and disengaging the clutch and gears.
In fact in maunual mode the MC-Shift logo doesn't appear until the temp gauge is half way to running temp.

I was always told letting it warm up wasn't necessary..................and the best way to do that was to drive it!

Maybe only for Maseratis or high performance cars.....................definitive view from an expert available?

Not an expert, but agree with Dan regarding warming up...
Mine behaves the same way, seems to like it better if let it idle for a few minutes before moving off,

Enzo.

But not recommended by anyone...ie....its less jumpy for those first 2-300 yards for your average driver!

The manual from my old Quattroporte IV Auto said do not wait for it to warm up but to drive with restraint until reaching normal running tempature.

My Spyder Cambiocorsa can be a little jumpy when cold
My 3200 auto didn't seem to mind being cold at all
My F355 F1 wasn't at all happy when cold.

I think that it might show that its the gearbox that is the major issue when cold.
I don't know about total engine wear as i have never owned a car for more tha 30k miles probably never will, so hopefully if it is aproblem i will never experience it !
