Thinking something practical and maserati. Levante v6d

Given the amount of BMW bashing that’s been going on recently, this might not be the most popular post - but I deal in facts ;) so here goes: I’ve had X5’s as my SUV for the last 11 years - they are very good all-rounders: roomy ( I have a 7 seater), reliable, good road-holding, more than powerful enough (3.0D, my third car with this engine) with plenty of engine options and I think I can go on. I’ve had my current one for 7 years, I use it as a pick-up when I’m busy at properties, I load sand/stone/bricks etc. It still looks good too in my opinion at least. The new ones have all the electronic aids as well. They are great cruisers, I can drive 800km by myself in one go with ease at relatively high speeds on so-so roads. My only complaint would be it feels a bit hard, but if you want an SUV without roll, that’s what you have to compromise on - mine also has run-flats and low profile tyres so that doesn’t help - the rear are a massive 315/35 R20 Pirelli Zero’s! Now let the BMW bashing (re)commence :)

I’ve had one and it was a great car for what we had it for....Always thought the X5 looked good.

Hi guys

I have owned 2 granturismo sports. Looking at selling my current nero gts and getting a strad in the future. In the mean time I still want to stick with maserati. Really interested in the levante, seen a few around London and I like them. Seen some nice spec ones for around 32k, seems like a lot of car for the money. Looking at the specs on the 3.0 v6d seem ok but looks like a nice remap would sort the levante diesel right out. Has anyone driven a tuned one? Iam not interested in the v6s as I want to keep it practical and it will be used to ferry the family about so it will be nice to enjoy the mpg coming from the granturismo sport.

Cheers dan

Hi Dan

I own a 2016 diesel levante as my daily driver / family car, alongside my other special cars.

Bought it 12months ago from Maranello with a 2 year Maserati warranty, 22k miles on the clock dark metallic blue and very dark chocolate/black interior. Got it at a fantastic less than half the price of a new one.

It has been a brilliant car and very practical with its large loading capacity, bi folding seats with ski hatch etc.. where I live the rural roads get rough and heavy snow in winter - all of it tackles with ease especially with its fully adjustable air suspension. Comes fully loaded with panoramic roof, 360 degree cameras, electric memory seats, etc. etc. Luxurious, understated and does have some go in her when required.

There are not many of these on the road and often gets complements, we love it as a family.

A great choice if you love Maseratis, want something reliable and different away from the sea of chav wagons including common as muck range rovers.

In regards to reliability I have had no major issues, apart from a minor door trim rattle which was sorted. Done 10k miles in her so far, averages up to 36mpg on longer drives and 29-30mpg on shorter runs etc.

I did get a brand new 2021 sq4 petrol levante as a courtesy car a few months ago, just as nice but thirsty of fuel - averaged around 22mpg without thrashing it!

Cheers
Mike

I have had 2. First was the diesel now a petrol - i much prefer the petrol

I’ve already detailed how nice they are to drive and I have had no issues - I went into them from owning 2 GT’s .

Ignore the negativity & ignorance and try one yourself

LOL.... Evoque Cabrio....what a shocker.....what were they thinking?

Whenever I see a guy driving one with the roof down I have a chuckle , they look ridiculous, the Evoque in any form is a girl's car , especially the cabrio

I' m picking a touareg up some time next week , as normal for me it's 14 years old but has been very well looked after , the guy has owned it 3 years and done all of the preventative maintence

When you look back at how unreliable cars were in the 70s I find it amazing that a 14 year old car still looks and drives like it's 3 years old.

It's a 3.0Tdi with 225bhp

Waiting on a new key from VW , hopefully this week 86786

That would be my choice if I needed a car for towing. Great cars and almost bullet proof if looked after properly.
