There shall, in that time, be *rumors* of things going astray, errrm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are....

So.. I realised yesterday evening, at the pub, that I have lost my wedding ring. I have manged to stealthily look "everywhere" in my house / garage for it but it is a no show. Already worked out that it is gonna be tricky explaining that one.

So, line up the excuses, I am going to need a good one...

Got the one from my second mariage in my toolbox if of any use but bear in mind it's in France.

Acceptable ring excuses I may or may not use (I’ve thought about this):
1. Was doing the washing up and to preserve the shine I took it off. I must have knocked it under a carpet/table/dog ate it

2. I take my ring off to close rear hatches/saloon boots/bonnets of other people’s cars - it’s remarkably easy to catch the ring and put a scratch on a car. ‘It must have fallen out of my pocket’

3. ‘I was taking stuff to the dump and it must have slipped off when I was chucking stuff over the top’

My good lady threw mine out... I was doing some sanding and had taken it off. She came along and picked up papers etc and into the rocking everything went. She denied it all until I tipped the paper recycling out onto the floor. Out came 1 Renault key card, one set of house keyS, some money, but sadly no wedding ring. In the intervening years since our wedding the price of platinum had increased somewhat dramatically, of course she insisted I had a new one..

I've had to buy my husband 4 wedding rings in the time we've been married, which must mean I quite like him! This is not because he looses them but because they wear out and become so thin that they're sharp. I've given up now (buying any more rings that is, not on him!) so he's currently 'unadorned'.

I'm on my fourth as well. Not lost the most recent one and am watching with 'interest'

Love the title BTW @Manc5 Life of Brian?

My wedding band was a pretty hefty one with a thick beaded edge but very soft so, right up to when I wasn't, I have always been careful with it..... just not at the moment...

I “think” mine went to the bottom of the Med in 97/98 while posted to Cyprus. At the time I lost it the wife was home for her grandmothers funeral. Awkward!! I’ve not had one since!

Based on a few of these responses, it sounds like you should go with:

"Honey, I took my ring off to be safe while working on [insert manly or housework activity here] and put it here. But it's gone. Have you seen it?"

Or

"I was rubbing it so hard [insert good reason for rubbing here] that it just wore away to nothing!"

Wrong kind of gold.

Oh that's class!

Wrong kind of gold.

Yes, something very odd there. I lost one (too much weight lost), broke one (New Year's Eve and a friend'd tiled kitchen floor), then had it rebuilt. Sucession of cheap silver and Titanium ones and then a few years back Mrs C finally had enough and bought me a white gold one. Which, so far, is neither lost nor broken.
