Swatch has no interest in the residual value. They’ll keep making them until people stop buying them, so availability is not going to be an issue. So unless you feel the need to have one this week, there’s no need to panic or queue outside a shop for hours.

How about a Tudor 79090? Same case, you get the option of a blue one without having to have white gold expense but yes used only and the movement is generic. They have gone up a lot in recent years but still more economical than the Rolex version

Don't think I could ever buy a Tudor.
Just reminds me so much of a gordie kid delivering newspapers up tower blocks, and managing it by eating packets of 'Tudor' crisps.

Edit:nearly got it right!

Patek make Rolex’s attempts at market manipulation look amateur. Try and a buy a nice, stylish, simple Patek and see how far you get! No chance. They’ll sell you some gaudy trinket, but a plain nautilus? No.

This is the problem with all these watch brands. What most people actually want is a simple steel watch that is well made and stylish. Rolex and Patek (and others) do make these, but only in very restricted numbers. But they’d rather make something broadly similar, but studded with tiny cheap diamonds, and charge a whole lot more for a far greater profit. Or something with pictures of the moon on it, for a quarter of a million. It’s all nonsense.

Omega, Brietling, AP, Patek, etc - none of them make anything nearly as plain, simple and stylish as a basic Rolex Oyster. There are lots of Rolex’s I don’t want, but overall, it’s still my prefered brand as a daily watch.
In the end, I got a Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II (non-chrono).
Generally, Breitlings don't fall in the plan & simple bracket, however I feel this one does - all my humble opinion of course...

Congrats. A lovely watch. I think the movement is made in collaboration with Tudor. So there is a ‘bit of Rolex’ in there too. I hope you enjoy the watch.

Rolex new models are out and include this rather bizarre GMT II with the crown on the left!

It’s nicknamed “the green lantern”

Just looks wrong to me.

So that’s the left handed version apparently Wattie. There is also a ‘new steel watch’ going to possibly be released by Rolex for 2022. May be an update on the Air King or possibly a Skydweller anniversary.

It’s getting ridiculed on Rolex forums.
Lots of pics of people wearing their current models upside down.

Lol Rolex have done this in the past. Earlier Subs were released as left handed models. Does look odd I agree Wattie.

The weird part is they moved the date and cyclops too. Don’t recall that being done. This may become a ‘collectors’ watch if you can buy one at any dealer that is. Have a punt Wattie may do as well as gold mate. ‘This time next year we’ll be millionaires’

I agree it looks strange in the photo. But it looks fine on the wrist, and to wear, I prefer the crown to be on the left anyway. (And Rolex are not the only ones to offer this.)
Probably academic though, as I bet you can't actually go to a store and buy/order one.

I was going to say I'm left handed and wear watches on my right wrist, so it wouldn't look odd to me, however I'm that conditioned to the crown on the right I'm not sure it would be easy to use lol.
