I don’t have a Sea Dweller, but I do have a vintage diver watch with a depth gauge complication which I think is quite cool.

You got the same watches? Is it the exact same SD and then which version speedmaster?
I have the manual wound Speedmaster Professional moonwatch 35705000. My SD is the new one. I swore my SD 4000 was a keeper but then got offered such a premium for it that I let it go.......regretted it almost immediately. I was sceptical about the new SD initially, particularly at 43mm, but it wears very well with the wider bracelet. Still not totally convinced about the date magnifier but quite easy to remove if it offends me that much longer term

Nice. How accurate is the depth gauge? Just curious.

C

Having spent a year on and off restoring it I wouldn’t dare take it in the water, sadly. It’s a simple system with a capillary tube and I’d expect it to give a pretty good approximation but not accurate enough for a real scuba diving. It was encrusted with silt and salt when I got it so was well used for a while.

I have original box and sales receipt from 1968. The shop where it was sold, in Italy on the Adriatic coast, is still there, owned by the same family.

Maybe the first owner had a Maserati as well . Or more likely a Fiat.

Have seen those, and would love to have one to go with my Favre-Leuba Bivouac, with barometric altimeter.
I've got to stop checking out this thread, I thought I'd culled the herd down to a few keepers, but you chaps have me looking for new things to spend money on. The divorce shall be upon your heads. :argue1:

Impressive, however much as I expected. Ta

I'm toying with the idea of selling my 2002 Seamaster Bond die another day ltd edition , I've only worn it a few times in 18 years so it still looks as new with the box and papers .
The ltd editions are quite hard to value so if anyone knows where one of the other 10,007 watches is up for sale i'd appreciate knowing

10,007? That has to be the least limited of any “limited edition“ item I’ve every heard of! One for the programme “When the marketing dept goes rogue”. By that parlance, every Maserati built in their first 90 years of existence was a limited edition.
Nice watch though.
Value wise, presumably comparable to a similar era non-Bond Seamaster. As while some buyers will like the Bond reference, others will not.
Maybe time your sale with the release of the new movie, as that’s usually the peak time for Bond items.

It was the first of the bond specials ,I expect they were thinking there’d be a lot of demand, 10,007 sounds a lot but worldwide it’ll only be 100s per country I’d think.

all I can find have sold 74274

Nixie tubes are fab. A friend is a bit if a collector, even built himself a Nixie watch.

I have a kit in the cupboard...for two years
You and I are on the same page. I like the modern block with the other tubes.kinda reminds me of when you had to wait for things to warm up.

I have a Butler tube car amplifier and McIntosh head unit waiting for a car to put them in. The sound is fantastic. So yes, I like tubes too.
Gooner, being the cheap person I am, I came up with a way to pressure test watch cases to 10 atm.
My shop air compressor has a large dryer/filter, and I take the filter out, put watch case (sans movement) in a zip lock bag of water, put the bag
in the filter housing and dial it up to 150psi. Leave it pressurized for an hour, and remove. Bleed off the pressure first. Works well enough for any water I might get into.

Have you listened to the watchmaker by Steven wilson

The watchmaker works all day and long into the night
He pieces things together despite his failing sight
Though all the cogs connect with such poetic grace
Time has left its curse upon this place

Long into the night :D if you gave me 50 years i couldn't put that back together

Some advice chaps please.
I've just been quoted by Beards in Cheltenham for a service and repair for a Zenith Elte (slimline). Not many 'complications' merely date.
£400 and eight to ten weeks ETA. They state that's a full strip down and any parts replaced with OEM parts.
Does that seem about standard?
Thanks
Robin
