In typical UK government fashion, they have no way to police this 14 day quarantine nonsense, it's reliant on people's conscience, which is a flawed strategy at best. It's also a policy of "closing the barn door after the horse has bolted" and therefore it's unsurprising to me that Priti Patel is the architect of this stupidity.

September is a long way away still, lots will change between now and then. Patel included hopefully.

Of the c 250k spectators at LM, typically about 80 to 100k are brits. Went up during the Jag 88 to 90 and AM Prototype 09 to 12 years.

largest contingent are French, followed by U.K. then Germans, Danes (Tom K legacy) then Dutch then all the rest.

Based on that, with circa 40% of spectators being British, could they afford to run the race if we still have the quarantine in place and therefore people don't go?

Incidentally did you know the Dover/Calais ferry has been running all the time?

I am unaware of any restrictions and actually booked one to test, all the way to the payment then exited with no issues or warnings.

With the number of foreign trucks I see every day since lockdown commence travelling on the M4/5; I suspect all ports are running with limited changes.

Could this put a stop to Le Mans?

It seems a bit odd, really. If the level of infection is roughly X in all of, say, Leamington Spa, Le Mans and Leipzig, what does it matter which one I am coming back from? A 'foreign travel' quarantine only makes sense if the foreigners are noticeably more germy than the locals.

Judging from the traffic on the M20 I would say there is more freight traffic coming in through Dover than normal.

Many a true word spoke in jest!
Hopefully they’ll get all the stuff harvested or that’ll be another industry in tatters & we become ever more reliant on our European friends.
And next time they might decide to keep it all!

At higher prices as we'll be out on the 31st December.

The fruit farms near me are still desperate for pickers. I would imagine normally they would be paying minimum wage. I reckon you can get quite a bit more than that now.
Perfect for anyone on tax credit. Social distanced whilst working, fresh air so they don't have to fill the beaches like everyone else.....

Yet there are hundred, probably thousands of jobs available. Don't get it..... :as003:

Well the "real" event may be in doubt, but the "Virtual" LM24H is going ahead over the original June W/E

SIM racing with some awesome drivers taking part inc Alonso, Barrichello, Button, Leclerc and Fisichella to name a few. All "live" over the 24H. Worth having a virtual get together and some real beers!

See https://24virtual.lemansesports.com/

Virtual baguettes, green bottled beer and endless BBQ's and smoking...I don't think so.

Is there anywhere online I can virtually annoy the French locals by blasting through there medieval towns with my flaps open and afterburners on?

Did it this morning at 6am through Dorking... It reminded me of Bernay but without the hangover
