The rise of the used car market

Not an intentional change of business model, but just a coincidence how the cars all arrived at the same time. The 2 AC’s are outstanding and the 3200 GT a cracking car for the money. MCV and QP GTS are more our usual thing, and the GT Sport. We’ve another GT Sport coming too.
I’d take the Aerial Atom In this whether Dickie. As long as I didn’t have to stop in traffic.

Epic car, expensive toy, but what a toy!
Talking of toys, shared a pit garage with a distant English cousin yesterday at Snetterton.

On the subject of engine configurations I’ve almost got a full set in the collection: inline 4’s and 6’s, 3 V8’s and a V12. Need a boxer flat engine to complete the set and used to have. 911 years ago. My son has one but I don’t think that counts :-(88241

You must have cooked in yesterday's heat, Frank! Good day, though?

Good to see confidence in older models though Dickie.

You really need a V16 in the lineup, perhaps something like this:

Or you could go Cadillac......

I don’t have any particular confidence in older models in general, it’s just all on condition, that’s what I buy on. The 2 AC’s have had huge amounts of work on them as has the 3200 GT. Don’t find many 3200’s that have had £10000 worth of work to make sure they’ll last another 20 years.

I was ok but cooked a module in the electronic ignition so now back at the circuit arranging recovery. always a voyage of exploration with a new car, finding out what’s dodgy when it breaks!

What ignition system is it?
Not certain, but thinking I’ll have to replace the distributor as it’s a “ready to run” type with all the electronics built in and just connects to the coil. I think the main contenders are Mallory and MSD, but the latter seem to have some dodgy feedback on reliability despite the c £700 cost for a V8 one.

Any suggestions very welcome!

I found myself today going down the rabbit hole of the Connaught Type D with its 2.0l V10.

That would make a nice addition. And the boxer can be ticked off with a Scooby (maybe a Forester STi).

Ive got an MSD 6AL ignition module and distributor in the Vette. But as you say £300 each so £600.

Both MSD and Mallory do ready to run dissy with no separate box I think they’re about £300.

Not heard any specific reliability stuff beyond the normal.

MSD and Mallory along with a load of others are all owned by Holley so probably all come out of the same factory nowadays.

I’d go for a brand name eg MSD or Mallory, even Ford they do loads of stuff too.

Real Steel are usually competitive price wise and know their stuff so maybe have a chat.

Something failed in my MSD 6 that I have in my Mustang, broke down when hot, think the mechanic described it as the magnetic pick up ?
Weeks of poor running and cut outs but less than £5. To fix once diagnosed.
I would replace like for like

Thanks for the advice and we are like minded. Engine was built by Real Steel, so they are def on my list to call when I work out if the existing dist can be fixed or I need to
Replace

If I see a rise in GS prices I will be happy... but not prepared to hold my breath.

£22-23K for a good maintained one retail, with excellent low miles ones up to £28k... just my thoughts... and the main reason I have not swapped to a GT due anticipated fall for those and steady for the GS.
Hello Safrane, where do you see the fall going to for the GT (S)? Thanks

My daughter is looking for a small hatch back for her 90 mile round trip commute and we have really noticed the increase in prices.
Made worse in that she has no car to sell (which would also have gone up, off setting some of the increased cost.
bank of dad will have to top her up to pay for the covid premium.

my Jag which I bought just over a year ago is priced with WBAC at £500 less than I paid for it, normally I would see £4-5k depreciation in the same period.
