If I see a rise in GS prices I will be happy... but not prepared to hold my breath.

£22-23K for a good maintained one retail, with excellent low miles ones up to £28k... just my thoughts... and the main reason I have not swapped to a GT due anticipated fall for those and steady for the GS.

Same for my wife’s daily purchased in Feb, now asking prices are £4-5k more

I've bought and sold 4 cars in the last 4 months and hardly taken any real depreciation on te ones I sold (both after owning for over 2 years). And both cars that I bought are worth more now than I paid for them :)

Will also add, the morale of this thread is buy (or sell) for the right personal reasons with eyes open to the potential depreciation impact (unless buying and selling is your business). I started buying sports cars in 1993 (2.8 TVR S1) and after 4 TVRs, 6 Porsche’s, 2 Maseratis, countless hot hatches and an M3 have been used to losing a packet on 80% of them. Financial prudence has never really played a role in my car buying obsession, otherwise I would have stopped buying silly cars a long time ago. The thought of not losing 40-50% of value over 3 years of ownership has only been on my radar for the last 7-8 years to be honest (let alone making money). Buy because life is short and you can afford to lose the money. If you don’t, it’s a bonus (particularly in these times of uncertainty for the future of the ICE powered car).

I think it very much depends on the car type.. I thought I could get a great price for the wife's mini, but didn't happen. There are tons of cars on the market. I dont know for certain (but suspect) that its maybe 7 years old and less, low mileagers, that are doing well

I called in my local BMW dealer this afternoon to buy a new rear wiper blade. Rude not to have a look around while there.
Talking to a salesman they do have a problem with this silicon chip shortage and the supply of new cars, increasing the used car values due to lack of stock.
I did have another agenda apart from the genuine one of buying a new wiper blade, they have a Lexus RCF for sale.
I'm quite smitten with them at the moment, not to replace the 4200 but the M140i.
Would having three V8's be a bit greedy?

I like the Lexus RCF, I really like the LC500 sport too

There is a similar problem in car rental. Have you seen the prices! 2 weeks in Rome I usually pay around 2-300 depending on model etc, just searched around and its £800 for a Lancia Y!
The lack of supply of new cars coupled with the fact that most rental companies sold most of their stocks to even keep afloat has meant a severe shortage.

Drive down in one of your lovely selection. I’ve driven to Rome before in a Gransport and a Granturismo, be epic.

Yes thats an option.. requires more countries to be fully open and runs the risk of one closing and knacking it all up.. will see. Hoping to get away late Aug early Sept..

Whereas I was approaching the same ordeal with trepidation and in the end it was extremely efficient with absolutely no issues at all!

Obviously we did Moderna in 2014. It was 'challenging'. Pisa was fine. By the time we got to Florence I threw the keys at the valet and was glad to see the back of it, but that's more because all the one way systems hadn't updated on the sat nav and doing 36 point turns on narrow, cobbled streets in a 4200 CC was 'interesting'

Then we went to St Moritz and home via Champagne. Bloody epic
