It's impressive stuff and watching it you realise what appears to be comparatively new tech, has been championed by Lotus amongst others for many, many years

When the Elsie came came out with the bonded aluminium chassis it was light and pretty bloody brilliant. Over all these years they have not needed to change this which shows how good this was. I believe Aston then asked them to do the same for the 1990 Vanquish. I have been to the factory twice and although not high tech it was great to see the process and detail that goes into this from the tub to the detailed alluninium pedals.

Every time I see photos I wonder why this is the price it is and the MC20 is 2.5 times (or more) the number, OK I get V8 and better built but in the real world can that be justified?

The MC20 isn't even a V8, it's a twin turbo V6 like the Emira. So your question is even more justified.

Because it’s a rebody of a design from 20 years ago with a 30 year old engine from a taxi that’s going to become un-saleable and at a price point no one buys.

If we’re lucky Lotus will sell enough re-bodied Chinese EVs that they can come up with a new car people will actually buy. If not they’ll just become another MG selling Chinese appliances to people who don’t care as long as they have a new car every 3 years.
