The good morning thread

Good morning all. An evening at Weston Hospital with my Dad. Mum and Dad were coming back from a short break with her sister in Weymouth and stopped off on the way at Burnham and Dad fell and broke his hip. He was lead in the pavement for 4 hours before the ambulance arrived and then taken to Weston hospital. Not great as he is 87 and he went into shock while waiting for the ambulance. Ah well at least he is now in the best place even though it’s not local. Operating today. Time for to have some kind a mobility scooter as he is falling lots and struggles to walk. The search is in for what to get.

Thanks mate. Sure it will be fine. Just traumatic for Mum and Dad as at their age they do not cope well.

Until I can purchase my lordship, I can't legally vote...but can't see an issue with the logic!
Knock yourself out, Dennis! You'd not be the first Lord on here, but you may well be better house-trained than the previous.

@Andyk sorry to hear about your Dad. Fingers crossed he gets better fast, emotionally as well. As you say, coping mechanisms seem to erode with age.

@Devonboy I love Zanzibar. Stunning place with a colourful and not-always-great history. Have a superb time there.

Morning all, from Turin this fair day. Rough night with not much sleep, actually felt a tremor from the earthquake in Turkey (right time and same fault line I believe) was all shaking slightly for a few seconds. Not of any concern but of note. Anyway today of the last move of the trip to our final destination.

Have fun all…

Morning, all...Tropical Storm Ian is upon us. Think it's taking an easterly tack, so forecast has gone from 10 inches of rain over the weekend to a third of that. Winds are probably in the 15-20 kt range, with some gusts of up to 30. Livestock hunkered down, as are we...but definitely not gonna be as bad as the weather gurus originally painted/feared.

Adam, below is my inspiration:

Andy, echo all on your dad. In some ways, I count myself fortunate to not have had to watch mine age. I am not enjoying watching myself age...but beats the alternative. I hope you all come through this OK...

Working from home, one eye on the skies...hope Friday has been kind to all.

Sorry to read that and wish him a speedy recovery.

Can I suggest one of these.

Are you moving to Turin? Spent a week there and really loved the place. A different vibe to other parts of Italy I found as well. Went to visit a local couple I know there.
