The good morning thread

I have had a week of mixed feelings, a good friend of over 45 years died on Monday after a year of being in and out of a coma, his funeral is in Spain and I can’t get there, I will attend via video link. So sad to lose him (he didn’t quite make 60 yrs) but glad his suffering is over. He had always been fit and healthy but became ill after his first vaccination in May 2021 they are still investigating the connection.

A man whose family we befriended after my wife met them through volunteering has been ill with cancer for 5 years, now has just weeks to live. He has been in and out of hospitals all this time with very few periods of being well enough to participate in family life, when he is well enough I would take him for rides in one of the cars to put a resemblance of a smile on his face and give his wife a much need break.

This morning we are helping to take him to his eldest daughters first communion, something he has been fighting to be well enough to attend and we are pleased to help make it happen.

On a happier note, our Ukrainian guests are settling in well and becoming a little independent, they are lovely people and so grateful not only for the help we are able to give them, but the kindness of so many people welcoming their countrymen and supporting their country, they are such proud people.

My eldest daughter is planning to get married and is moving closer to us next week, which is just wonderful news.

These things (and my job …lol….) remind me that we must live our lives as best we can, be the best we can, and don’t waste the lives we are blessed with.

Oh, and this afternoon, I am off down the pub…… life goes in :D

Arrggghh .... it's raining here on the Isle of Wight this morning! What happened to the brilliant weather we had yesterday(?)! I was planning to give the car a polish this morning and then go to a meet with my local car club. I don't want to do that if it's going to be raining. I need a Plan B ... Maybe it's time to get the HVAC out and replace the bulbs(?)

Good Morning everyone, sorry to read your bad news Sam, it's always a shocker when someone dies in their 50's, especially someone close or you've known for a long time. As you say life goes on etc.
This week, much needed rain for the gardens and waterbutts will be on and off. 15mm on Wednesday night according to yr.no (yeah-no) and I'm on call that night. Marvellous.

Go well, enjoy your weeks.

“Hot-desking” at our Windsor office today…… which makes a change.
mainly video calls and 121’s but I will be “virtually” attending the funeral of a good friend later this morning. :(

It's quite a set of emotions you're contending with at the moment, Sam. Good luck with all of it.

Morning all. Back in the office today with a mountain of work after last week European jaunt.

All good though, although struggling to catch up with sleep especially after a near 70 mile training ride yesterday for Ride London.

Think I am ready for it though.

A very good morning to all. Planting some new plants and a bit of grass cutting. My youngest Alex has a load of friends around to watch the FA Cup as he is a Chelsea fan and my eldest Dan is off to a Eurovision Song Contest party tonight and I will be picking him up at midnight. No wine today for me then …. Plus I struggle to stay awake pat 10 let only midnight.
Liverpool all the way Andy......

Morning all, getting a bit tired of going into work with not a lot to do so lets see how long this lasts

How are you battling on lately, big fella? I hope all's well. Any free time for house-hunting?

Fighting what has become a battle indeed, I am having more good days than bad I feel. The bad days are more polarised unfortunately, this is new and not something I've ever needed to deal with for myself. Lots going on and work is piling up, I'm trying to dissipate it as best I can. Got a chat with the Dr at the end of the month and hopefully I'll get to reduce the meds s I'm sure they are causing the polarisation effect amongst many other awful side effects a fella doesn't want!

Thanks for asking though :)

Good luck, brother. We're rooting for you. You know where to find me if you want an ear to bend, or just some companionable silence.

Good morning all, round two of warehouse wage negotiation’s with the Union. Inflation is not our friend at the moment.
